Heck yeah, just getting caught up. Hope there's some good news by the time I get to the end.

Don't take us on another epic track please. I gotta be up at 5am for work.

    It's been 36 minutes Mike!

    I keed, I keed

I'm ttying to grasp the "giant" portion and seeing you are in IN that leaves a plethora of images.

    Good luck on the recovery!

    Come on Friday morning...

One of these days I'm going to be able to post that phrase "just shot a giant".

My experience with calls too. I've had a small spike that didn't know was around come into a grunt before but that's it. Usually grunt and rattle every once in while but don't think it makes a difference.

I hope I'm able to and if I ever do take it literally.

I suck at field judging for some reason. I thought my biggest was a 120'ish 8 after passing a 110 at first light.

The 10 I didn't realize until after the **** and he stopped 8yds in front of me and stared at me while I counted the tines.

And my 9 I thought was just tall racked with long brows.

The 12 and 9 I literally chit myself when I walked up and seen the mass and bases.

I'm not good at field judging but I think I'll know a giant if I see one. Sunday morning I knew I'd shot a big bodied good buck but I knew it was no giant.

I just knew it was bigger than anything I'd killed with a bow before.

The only success I've ever had with calls is when I've grunted to get their attention and then follow it with a soft doe bleat when they're listening.

Doesn't work often but it does work.

A doe and fawn came out for 5 minutes 30 minutes before sunset and left... That was it for me. Simply shocked. Only beans left in the area and 30 degrees.

That 9 pt. I shot in 2011 I thinknI called him in. Could see a buck through the cedars, just antlers and tgiught it was a 2 1/2 that came through earlier. Was grunting at him playing around. Took about 15 minutes but he finally came in pretty agressive. Thrashed some leaves and a small sappling a bit.

Just FYI. Those dont provide an alternate means of decent from the stand. It worked for mary poppins though. (Tried it from a roof when I was a kid.....don’t do it.) :eek2:
