I have a cocking device. Two years ago I had my shoulder come out of joint drawing my 58 lb compound. I use my legs to climb with. It's not the draw that I can't do. It's the holding on target once I get there. Just saying don't lump all xbow hunters into the slob no good sum beech category..

Our hunting education manual breaks it down as- 5% hunt, 5% don't like hunting. That leaves 90% that we need on our side.
W What are you saying then.. I have no pride? Believe me if I could effectively hunt with I i'd be carrying my compound. Would you rather I gut shoot deer. Hell everyday bowhunters using bows do that.. Once again... Don't throw us xbow guys in the gutter like trash.
I think you're taking what he said wrong there. I didn't see where he was calling anyone slobs for using a crossbow because they arent capable of using a compound. But like you said a few posts ago, there are slobs in every discipline. Whether is be compound, xbow, rifle....heck even target archery has a few.
Can you pull 45 lbs? I am just wondering how much effort it takes to pull 45 lbs vs cocking a xbow? I may need to know that one day! Man just hunt the way you want to hunt and enjoy it. Xbow, gun, compound, recurve, dart gun, it doesn't have any effect on me. All I was saying is if you truly loved bowhunting then is it possible to to hunt with a lower poundage bow? 40-45 lbs.. kids and women do it everyday.. if that's not what you want, then hunt with your xbow. Im glad your able to hunt period.
Our state only allows crossbows for those who are handicapped or for anyone hunting non game species. OR anyone can use them in “any legal sporting arm” season, otherwise known as rifle season. I would love to get one to play with on hog and coyote. But we have stupid laws about magnified optics. And it’s hard to find non magnified crossbow scopes. And I don’t see what the big deal is with non game species you can legally shoot with a rifle whenever. Bogus IMO. Maybe a dedicated crossbow season would be great. Maybe make it shorter but fit somewhere in the archery season. Cause they are fun and still harder to use than a rifle.
I have hunted with a compound for 35 years. For the last few seasons I have hunted with both a compound and a crossbow. I am perfectly capable of hunting with a compound only. The doe I shot on opening day was with my compound, today I hunted with a crossbow. Over the last few seasons I have taken animals with both and I will continue to do so. What weapon I'm caring when I go afield doesn't change my ethics one bit. I have the unpopular opinion that more people should be shooting crossbows instead of compound bows. It would probably result in less lost and unrecovered game. Good luck this season, the best days are upon us.
The marketing and sales has not helped at all, when you have crossbow companies advertising accuracy out to 100 yards it is problematic.
I’m all for guys using crossbows if they aren’t able to shoot a bow because of a disability or age. Not a fan of them for guys that just want to take the easy route. Just my two cents.
Very true, but then again. I see guys who hunt with rifles go out and shoot 8 inch groups at 100 yards. Same guy says he shot his last deer at 300... YIKES! Thats over a 24” variable for bullet impact from what you’ve indicated at 100 yards! I do agree that a crossbow will leave less room for error on bad shot placement from guys who don’t get out and shoot much. Which there are probably a lot of. I know some of them. I’m sure most here practice frequently but do you think the average hunter does? I’d be willing to bet there are a large number who pick up the bow on the day before opening day and fire a few arrows into a target then march on out to try and put one in a deer. I see it with rifles and shotguns a lot. Helped a friend sight in his new $1300 7mm magnum. He doesn’t ever shoot in the off season. Rifle shot a .75” group for me. He couldn’t muster but 2” out of it consistently. Which is more than fine. He also kept complaining about recoil from the 8.5lb rifle with a muzzle brake. Thing kicked less than my .308win SAKO finnlight. 2” doesn’t sound bad, but when the deer is in your crosshairs at 100-200 yards, you’re just going to be that much more unsteady!
