Everyone is different. If you feel regret then maybe you should have let one fly. If I was hunting in Indiana I would have passed. Here in Illinois he would have gotten an arrow.
Normally I have a few bucks bigger than him on cam, so passing wouldn't bother me. This year he's my biggest by about 20 inches.
While recovering my best friends doe, which was a sh*t show, I pulled a card and oh boy it was a good pull. He had a stud walk by his stand an hour after he got down today... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sitting in a observation set tonight for the first time. It's on the SW corner of sanctuary and there is a E wind. It's more of a gun stand but never know.
@airenlow should you bring us one shrubbery all is forgiven! for we are the knights who say "Thwack"! all jokes aside! I'm on the side of if you wouldn't have had your heart racing after then you made the right call! For me I know I have two studs walking around but man I sure would have been tempted! had it been the perfect set up I might have let one fly!
Troy here. Sorry all for not checking in. I thought I didn't sign up this year with as busy as I am with work, kids and getting my masters. Forgot that since we're the champs we must defend our title! So I'm here. May not get out much and no 180 on cam this year but hope to contribute. Good luck all.
I'm convinced that the rut is starting early here in southeastern Kansas. Heard a buck grunting last night at last light but never saw him and after dinner tonight we went driving looking for deer and almost smashed into a buck who was chasing a group of does I think I'm going to borrow the neighbors decoy next week and give it a try.
Good night, 8 doe and a spike. I sat until I could not see at all and no big boys. There is corn still up to my East so once that is gone it will finalize their patterns. Going into a 2 day hiatus which as y'all know never happens with me. But it's going to be pouring rain and I have a few business trips to do and VB at night. I'll be back at it hard Friday Saturday and Sunday rest assured.
Not to disagree with you but science has shown the main portion of the rut occurs roughly the same time every year. However the bucks especially young bucks might display rutting behavior. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
The buck I encountered Monday morning was I believe the big 10 I’ve seen for the last 3 years. He was with a smaller buck who grunted at him in which returned some sort of snort/wheeze back. They never locked horns but when they followed each other across the field 3 does popped out and ran a fence line. Half hour later the big one comes out and walks the fence line with his nose to the ground the whole time. I cant ever remember this type of early stages happening this soon, but they seem to be getting started a little early. This all went down at 9:30 am Monday.
This is my only opening for a shot and you can see the small buck out in the beans. Picked my bow up when the big guy started moving to the field but he followed the little guy. So close but lives to see another day.
In for a quick morning hunt. The wind is opposite of what was predicted. Didn't realize it until I got here. This should be hilarious!!!!
