One drawback; the outdoor hunt camp shower seems a whole lot less appealing on this 45 degree morning than it did a week ago. Ughh it’s gonna be awful cold while I’m getting dryed off
I wish we got like a point per squirrel - I could've had our score into the thousands by now. I did check a couple trail cams Saturday and found out tht I have a new visitor at one of my properties. I was actually planning on ducking out of the office early Thursday to go hunt and the stand I was planning to hunt is right by this trail camera.. I would've had a 25 yd broadside shot at him where he is standing and might've even gotten a photo of him getting arrowed on trailcam. Unfortunately something came up before I could leave and I didn't make it out in time to hunt that day. I am hoping he decides to stick around for a while and wasn't just passing through.
Nope, I was sitting in my office correcting an employee’s mistake. To her credit it was kind of a minor oversight and she would’ve normally fixed it on her own, but she was out for a funeral. She is still kind of on my **** list right now though. He would’ve been in the freezer if it weren’t for that.
Crazy hunt tonight. A 10 yard stare down while I was still hunting with two spikes. Soybean flooded with 8-10 does while I was kneeling down. I drew and stood up but it was too dark. Public land tomorrow !
guys, Have my pics just waiting for the video to go out so I can link all the stuff up on one post. I wont forget about the team
I'll be leaving work early in the morning and going out again. If I don't get one in the morning I'll be back out in the evening as well.
Been quiet on here lately. Anyone getting out, seeing any action? My next time out may be Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
Haven’t been going out after work on weekdays as much. It takes me 25 minutes to drive home from the office and then 20 to get to my hunting area plus the time it takes to change and whatnot so with it getting dark earlier it’s tough to make it in time even if I do get out of the office right at 5. I actually left at 4:30 today so I could go tonight. Should be in the stand by 6. I am pretty much free all weekend and had planned to do an all-day sit on Saturday and on Sunday but that was before the tropical storm decided to head my way. As of now right now it doesnt look like an all day sit is going to be an option. Current forecast looks like it’s going to let me get in a Saturday morning and Sunday evening hunt for sure, but Saturday evening and Sunday morning are still TBD. Thinking I’ll at least do an extended sit on Saturday and stay put until the storm gets here. Hopefully once the pressure starts dropping as it approaches it’ll stir up some good daytime activity. If I see something I’m gonna have to make a really good shot and cross my fingers that he is easy to track because searching for a deer is gonna suck extra bad if it’s during a tropical storm. I tend to do better under pressure though so it’ll probably help having that potential outcome as motivation.
I hunted public land weds. Checked a spot that has two previous years of huge rubs. Didn’t see anything fresh so hiked another mile the opposite way. Come across some rubs from what seemed to be a 2.5 yo buck. Bumped something. Was going to go out today but my dads in the hospital.
Well guys i'm getting out when I can, my only regret is I didn't have an adult doe in range and I didn't take a shot at her because I was waiting for a buck. The good news is the buck did come, but he was to small. I've had another smaller buck in range, but I'm not doing that. I'll be hunting the morning and Evening tomorrow and I'm going to drop a doe if I can. I'll keep you posted. good luck everyone.
I have a feeling that one of those nice big meaty BBW Does is gonna walk by your stand around 8:30 AM carrying a pair of 5Lb backstraps. I suggest you send her to the freezer.
I might be able to get a hunt in late season....I'm hoping anyway. Had to relocate two states south, and now in the process of a divorce.
