Yes you should have! Haha. Those bucks have a way of always doing that. Then you hunt and don't see a deer!

Needless to say it was a good evening. Killed my biggest one yet!!!! Really didn’t see much until around 6:00 then there were deer everywhere. 4 came out to the field to my left then there was a group of eight does and fawns feeding in the woods coming towards the field. I was getting positioned for a possible shot at one of those and I caught movement of another deer coming into field about 55 yards away. Wasn’t hard to tell it was a buck and “definitely a shooter “because I am not a trophy hunter. I quickly ranged where it looked like he would enter the field. 45 yards, a little to far but as soon as he came out into field he walked towards me and stopped at 35 yards and started feeding. I drew back settled in and let R rip. Looked great then he ducked and spun a little and I smashed him in shoulder. Luckily my new arrow setup blasted through and penetrated the
first shoulder and deep enough to get something vital. He crashed through everything in his way and I watched him run for about 150 yards with arrow chopping him up as he ran. After about 45 minutes I got down and started tracking. Blood everywhere!!! After about 400 yards of him weaving in and out of steep rocky thick creek hill I found him laying on the opposite side of the creek. He couldn’t make it up the steep bank on other side and was laying there dead. I knew he looked nice but never really knew until about 1 1/2 later after I finally got my hands on him. It took 3 guys almost 2 hours to get him up out of the steep hellhole where he died. I waded a chest deep creek to get him but oh was it worth it. Might be awhile until I get a chance to score him I have evening plans until Friday.
That’s 2 from same set in first 3 sits if the year!!seems to be my lucky year!!!!!
I’m going to try to get some good pictures of him after I get home from work tomorrow. This might be my first wall hanger if I can convince my wife to allow me to spend the dough.

Congrats again on your personal best! If you need a hand at scoring it, just let me know, I can make a trip up.

I’m going to take some better pictures and take him to butcher shop after work. Typically I would cut them up myself but don’t want to mess up the cape if I’m thinking about a mount. Plus I have plans for anniversary with my wife this evening. Can’t break that or there would not be a chance in hell I would be getting a mount done

Haha yeah don't do that! Good thing about a mount is it takes a while for the taxidermist to finish them. Most only make you pay a deposit up front. Then the rest when it's done. So you not out all the money at once. Gives you time to save up a little extra.

Also I'm serious on my offer, I could run up in the morning and be back for a evening hunt!

Congrats happy on the buck!! Awesome deer and I had a similar story to a buck I shot last year it took a side by side with 4 different ropes and four guys guiding my buck out of a creek bottom! Slipping and sliding everywhere the ground was muck! But worth it , again congrats!

To keep tabs, if I’m right we should have 5 does and 2 bucks all together! Once we get them on the scoreboard we should be taking first place!

Not sure how soon I will get mine on the scorecard. It might not be until next week. Going to butcher shop tonight and we might be leaving town for the weekend. Maybe have some time Saturday around noon but we will see n

I’m getting the head and cape back tomorrow evening. If you would still like to assist or “take the lead “on scoring it I would have some time mid to late morning to do it.let me know.

Sounds good! Are you talking on Saturday morning? I'm free on Saturday, planned to hunt in the evening.
