Did a spur of the moment deer hunt last night. Sat in a stand looking over a thick hazelnut patch on an oak ridge. Seen about 10 does and 1 small buck. Normally don't sit for deer this early but these cool temps make me wanna.
Well guys, I'm sick of this bear season. Can't get to most of my spots due to rain/ mud.( And more coming), hope ya don't think less of me but I'm gonna bring out the bang stick and try to end this season. Truthfully, I could care less to even shoot another bear but it's my favorite meat and winter's a coming. Gonna go here in a bit and sit along a remote stretch of river. Put out 2 honey burns, one 200 yards east, one 200 yards west. Gonna take a hunerd n fitty lber if I see one
Picture of dads bull. I am all finished about got blown off the lake today. Plane flys us out tomorrow. Seen 8 bulls this week all scrubs. Dad seen 5, missed a big one, killed a scub. In the two camps there were 6 moose tags, all filled with small bulls except mine. I was here for a Woodland Caribou, so all my moose hunting was a bonus. There is nothing like FAIRCHASE bowhunting on the animals terms. No fences no guarantees. Woudlnt have it any other way.
Great pics trial. Just got set up in the stand with my daughter. No wind and occasional thunder in the distance . Hoping for some movement this evening, rain is in the forecast for tomorrow .
I have been out the last two evenings and really enjoyed it. I will be taking a die this year. I have an old prairie hooker nanny doe with warts, she has to go. Probably tomorrow evening. I had her perfect at 20 yards broadside when a couple of younger bucks starting doing what they do and ran her off. Tonight I sat in the woods and at one point had about 11 cardinals in a little group working through and feeding, pretty cool. Had a little 6 point come through grunting the whole time, kinda funny and weird. Anyway, back out at early in the am for a good long sit, should be nice and cool in the morning.
Still steaming. Shot him bout an hour ago on literally the only piece of dry ground around. Got the skinning knife sharpened and about to commence.
Team members. If anyone wants a great bear skin, you can have it. I'll freeze it and get it shipped out. You'll pay for shipping. It's a great hide!
Thanks fellas. I kinda feel like I cheated shooting with a gun but I REALLY wanted this season to be done with. Everything is mud/ water. I've put on 5400 miles since Sept 1. While beating the crap out of my suburban.
