She did duck and turn almost just right to avoid that arrow. Looks like you may have hit the area above the spine that people who know nothing of deer anatomy call "no man's land" where the spine in the neck dips low and the muscles of the neck meet up with the front of the loin (backstrap). You got the arrow to her before she got turned too far, but as she ducked it hit way too high.
Been there. Im sorry. The good news is she will probably live to see another day. Looks like you got high in the shoulder. Check the shoulders of doe kills later this year.
All my gear is in the van, hunting clothes are laid out in the garage, video camera is fully charged, and the 2 alarm clocks are set for 4:30am just to make sure. It's almost go time! Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Good luck in the morning man! I'll get off at 7. Gonna go lay down a coat of stain on the in-laws deck then head out around 3 tomorrow afternoon! Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
So it was good to be in the woods ... but the only deer that came through today were a doe with two fawns. That was kind of early in the day so I let her walk. The fawns are big enough to handle themselves, but I was hoping for one of the shooter bucks to come through so she got a pass today.
My dad got a doe this morning and saw two shooter bucks. They even sparred a bit out of range. Just got my work done now it time to shower and go see if I can do the same as the old man! Wind is perfect! Sun just popped out behind the clouds and it got hot quick..none the less, im excited! Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Camera is loaded! Multiple shooters and plenty of nannies. All set up. Other than the heat it feels great to be out here! Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well all I seen was one giant doe lol she was straight under me. Haven't quite mastered the filming hahaha she was dead center of my view finder at 18 yards broadside and I couldn't see her on the screen...she ended up surviving thanks to my green mistake ha. On a good note though the boy we are taking this year got his first deer! He was super proud and I was sure to let him know how good it was going to taste, along with how jealous I was haha awesome moment... Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Filming is tricky. My biggest advice is to pick the spot where you hope to shoot him, zoom out not in, and then forget the camera. When we started we always tried to zoom in on the shot. And often it was hard to get the deer to stop in that zoomed in window. If you are shooting a halfway decent hd camera...you can always zoom in during editing. So I tell my guys to just keep it zoomed out so we at least get the shot and if zooming is needed I’ll take care of that on adobe premiere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I had it zoomed out for that reason but thats why I couldnt see the deer on the screen hahaha I'll figure it out this evening I hope lol Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
In Nebraska until Wednesday ... not hunting unfortunately. I'll be back in the stand Thursday. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Season starts Tuesday. It’s been raining ALOT and looks to continue but that cool down on Thursday looks pretty awesome. I’ll be trying to get lucky on the ground those two days minimum next week maybe Wednesday too depending on how that rain works out. Getting pretty excited try to kill one on the ground. Beautiful. I've been to Colorado on business a few times but never had any hunting adventures. An elk hunt out west is a bucket list thing though. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
