Pellet or Corn stove

Figured that selling the place is going to involve putting in a stove in that does not require cutting and splitting wood. Anybody have experience with corn stoves? Is a pellet stove better?

 

I know several that have cornstoves. Seems they do ok but they complain about the mess.
The few I know that have pellet stove like em.

 

Pelt stoves are convenient, however they are not always trouble free. Most need regular cleaning and maintenance.
There is also a significant difference in the quailty of pellets available.
Your also stuck buying paying for a product. Up to you to decide if a pellet product is more cost effective compared to heating fuel or natural gas ect

 

I am replacing a wood burning insert, pellet or corn is going to be easier, cleaner, and less to maintain. Corn would be cheaper than pellets where I live. A corn stove is cheaper and I am doing it to make selling the place easier, evidently millennials don't wood stove.

 

I have both, wood burning stove in basement and pellet stove in family room. The wood burner is easier to maintain. Like what trial said above, it's very dependant of the brand pellet you get. But sometimes you get a bad batch with a high moisture content. The pellet stove is easier for the wife to load and turn on, but she's not the one doing all the maintenance. I believe there are brands that may burn both corn and/or pellets from same stove.

Been doing research and I think corn is what I want, cost of the stove and cost of the corn. My insert is right in the living room vaulted ceiling and loft. The dust is bad my wife hates it to the point where that is the main reason she wants to move. Any alternative to what I have is preferred. The house is on a slab no a gas furnace is not an option.

 

$900 free shipping on the e-bay on a corn stove. I can buy corn by the ton or 2 at a time.

Nope we have a lot of prep work to do on the ranch before we sell. I need to get dumpsters to clear out 25 years of accumulation, getting rid of the wood burning insert is part of the process.

So the stove showed up at work today, going to be so nice. Outside combustion air, the air blown thru the heat exchanger is filtered. My wife is going to be so happy with no dust and smoke and ash.

 

You may just end up staying.

 

She will like it but not that much. Corn is $75 a ton cheaper than pellets.

Primary heat, I heated with wood and electric back up. The corn stove is a bigger one for heating up to 2000 square feet.
