I spent a good deal of my twenties shooting long range, nothing less than 900 meters. My shooting the other day was plumb embarrassing. The range CO knows me and gave me a rash of chit. But I got her dialed in tight. Tbh, when it comes to long range these days I like my Ruger 10/22T at 100 meters. Fun, easy to find a range and not burning $$. Challenging enough.

Driving down a main gravel road today, I seen black dirt getting tossed up. Took me a second to realize Badger!
Stopped the truck and grabbed the .22.
Walked right up to the flying dirt and there it was, digging like a sumbitch!
    .
Stuck the barrel to his head and killed him.
Drug it out and threw him in the ditch. Filled the hole back in.
    Legal?, Nope.
Them bastards cause allot of $ here and I've seen some holes where somebody could lose there life.

I shot a badger in the face with some birdshot out of a 20 gauge and really pissed him off once, never gonna do that again. I cant run as fast as I used to be able to.

    Ornrey little critters!
Caught them while trapping coyotes. Sure can leave a crator!
Things dried out enuff where I could get to some of my stands.
    Giddy about this years prospects:rock:
Long story short, I have about 1200 acres of private ( super supreme) land on and near a bowhunting only area ( refuge).
Once cold/ snow hits, deer for miles migrate to a big swamp.
Hoping the plots I planted will short stop them enuff too:bow:.

Hell, there's plenty of room for a few of my team members??

Well the double mainbeam made an appearance at the feeder. I checked my trail cameras in the woods, he didn't walk by either of them. I think I may know where he is coming into the property so I hung another camera, doubleMB.JPG DoubleMB1.JPG

Well I'd didn't get all warm and fuzzy shooting that 7mm Remington mag that my dad was going to take moose hunting with him next week.
I guess that I am superstitious. I broke the gun down and took off the scope and listed it for sale.

I mounted the scope and bore sighted it last night I am Tikka T3X compact I had sitting around that bought on a whim last year.
Any way I have it up and running shooting 180 grain Nosler partitions. Its sighted in 3inch high at a hundred and shooting lights out.
Funny thing is up until two weeks ago I was going to take the same bow I took on this same hunt three years ago. However I was shooting my new bow way better so it's going with me.
Both dad and I are bringing some new gear!

That's a cool looking buck Bob.
A nosler 180 partition is an excellent choice!

I like those but with 500 yards I'm shooting some hand loads with Sierra 162 grain GameKing HPBT. I think I'm going a little light for Elk but it's more about placement. And with a boat tail I get a little more accuracy. If I have to get a box of ammo, those Hornady SST are freaking amazing but what would you expect for $60 a box.

I have 165 grain Trophy bonded as well that shoot to the same POI, they shoot a little flatter. That said my dad wont be shooting that far at moose. I told him he is good to 300, further then that ...get closer

Probably. Couldn't really tell ya seeing how it's a rare occasion I gun hunt elk. I have plans to gun hunt moose, bear and caribou but I will carry a 300 win mag for that. This particular hunt with my dad is probably his last elk hunt. He is getting up there and mobility is starting to slow, dont tell him.. The rifle I'm carrying is one he gave me for Christmas when I was 17 a Ruger M77. Just thought I'd carry it for this trip just because.

Ruger 77 are the best fitting/ feeling of a massed produced woodstocked rifle in my opinion.

Dang it feels good to be in a tree again!
Leaves turning, 70 degrees, nice steady wind, along way from anyone.
    Peaceful.

There is a bear in the corn about 40 yards from me.
Can't see him but he's tearing down stalks.

Well damn fellas. I really botched it.
The bear I really wanted ( a BIG) dry sow came in at 7:42.
7 yard shot and a hit her in the shoulder. How, no idea?
I trailed her about 400 yards though a nasty cornfield that was so full of weeds that visabilty was 2 feet.
Bled like crazy the whole way. She crossed a remote trail and got into a waterway.
Flashlight was dying so now I have to go back.
We got 2" of rain last night.
My adrenaline levels musta been high while trailing as I was dressed light but was totally soaked in sweat.

I feel horrible for botching the shot.
Wounding is something I don't take lightly.
Got a shot of rain coming now. Will go back when it's done.
