So who’s planning on targeting a doe first and then going after a buck?

That's my plan is getting a doe first then focusing on getting a nice buck for the rest of the season. We're suppose to have a 10-15 deg. temp drop wednesday until friday so I will be taking advantage of that.

That’s my plan. I’m running low on venison so I definitely need to fill the freezer first.

Lol depends what stand I’m hunting, if it’s a long drag then I’m not taking a doe at that particular stand

Jason and Vanf, you guys have some great bucks on cam. We picked up a last-minute lease down hear Chillicothe OH and havent pulled the camera on that yet... so Ill mainly be hunting MI, and Iowa (Nov 1-10) and then Ohio if I can make it down for late rut.

I always like to get a doe down first. That is the key to doing well in this contest - we all need to shoot a doe. The one year we came in 2nd I think we all shot does. I am out of backstraps so I need one down soon! Open Oct 1 here.

I agree. Everybody contributing a doe is definitely key to the contest. Hoping that won’t take me long lol

I should have a good trophy doe on the ground by friday if things go right. So hopefully we will have some points on the board soon.

How about an arrow stuck in the ground with some good old lung blood on it?

I have been out on two sits and have been skunked both times. Tomorrow I head out to CO for about a week long elk hunt. Best of luck to the team who are out enjoying their time in the woods--lets turn some heads and rack up some points (pun intended).

Went hunting for the first time of the season last night. Hogs had came and destroyed all my corn out of my small kill plot (should have known better). They ate in 2 days what deer could have eaten on for a while. Any who, didn't see as much activity as expected. But I did have a nice encounter with a 2 1/2 year old 8 point with good potential. Got it all on film. Let him walk though, I'm holding out for a big mature buck. I'll have some pics and videos up soon. Good luck to you guys.

Good luck elk hunting. Keep us posted. Me and some buddies have thought about getting some OTC elk tags for CO next year, but I don't know if I can afford it from SC.

I am definitely looking to get a doe on the ground ASAP! We ran out of hamburger a couple weeks ago.
