    I sure understand you fellas.
I have shot decent groups at longer ranges but growing up with very poor / missmatched gear has lead me to a mental block at live animals I just don't feel like doing.
    I " think" I can but ..
But don't fret team. I've shot PILES of deer with archery.
    Most are 15 yards n closer:woot:

Once shot a bear on the ground so close I'm not sure my arrow had went past the riser.:jaw:

I'm good out to 70 yards target wise but never taken a shot on a whitetail over 35 yards. Most of my shots have been at 20 yards or less. A couple years ago I had two coyotes at 50 yards, shot at the first one and hit the second one.. lol. I went antelope hunting six years ago, got one at 40 yards after smooth missing one at 50 yards.

Growing up I had a unique experience in that my grandparents were in the St. Louis archery club from the 50's through the 80's. All of us grandkids had bows and a great couple of instructors, including a National Champion. When I was a teenager I shot a lot of 3D tournaments but then I discovered girls and that went to the wayside. Somewhere I still have my Alpine Silverado that I should probably dig out and shoot, it was a top of the line bow back in '90.

    I started bowhunting in 1978-9?
Don't recall what bow I had?
When Jennings came out with their " Woody" model,
I had to have it and scrounged n saved for it.
Felt like King Chit walking out of the store with that thing.

Also remember saving hard to buy a dozen xx75' s.
Man I was proud. The first time I shot them was at my local outdoor 3- d range.
I climbed into a tower stand. THere was a beat up deer target set up maybe 15 yards away. The vitals were kinda shot out so the arrows zipped right through.
Every shot, I could see some of the foam fly off and hit the ground. I sure was proud of my shooting.
Went down to gather my arrows.
Glad no one was there as I broke out in tears.
Some ******* had tacked up a piece of 1/4 hardware screen to the back of the target stripping all my brand new arrows of the feather fletching.
What I thought was foam was the feather s.
    Was a somber drive home:cry:

I just bought a TRU Ball Blade in medium, I was shooting that release last year till I lost It taking $$$$ in big horn mountains of Wyoming on an elk hunt. Alas it was an expensive $$$$. Since then I been using my Carter quicky plus 1. The last couple weeks I been feeling bit punchy so I thought I better switch things up. I just order another Blade....moral of the sorry is now you better watch prices on EBAY because they are charging your states sales tax on every single item

    It's kinda weird.
Up until perhaps 10 years ago, I knew ( or at least thought I did) every product known to anything archery
State record holders and score, big names in the hunting industry.
Started not giving a crap about those things and now I'm so far out of the loop.
Hell, I couldn't even say what my release is now?
Strange how life's changes and age can effect oneself.
Season opened today here in MN. Just about bought my license but didn't cuz if I did, I'd feel compelled too get in a stand and I'm not feeling it yet.
Once the leaves drop, the urge hits hard!!
Bear opened 2 weeks ago and I'm just now feeling the urge too send a Muzzy.

Back from Colorado, had an awesome week in the Rockies. Didn't kill a bear but had a great time with good people. Time to get back on track and gear up for deer season .

I have gone through similar phases. I was on a whitetail kick for about 10 years. I spent about 30 days hunting the mid west and north west CT every year. Now I much rather elk hunt, moose hunt or caribou hunt for a week or two then deer hunt for months. I also been working on an archery super 10 and I am knocking on that door in the next few years. I just want to keep going to the wildest places I can find while I am able to!

I’m just starting to get into the adventure type of hunting. I grew up quite poor, so I always had the mentality out of state hunts were for the rich and famous. I’m 38 now and own my own business, so money isn’t as tight but time is another matter. My brother and I started applying for Arizona archery elk last year, so we’ll see how long that process takes. I’m doing a 2.5 day rut hunt in PA this year with some buddies. DIY hunts are much easier imo now because of all the research you can do online.

Back from Dallas and going out to the farm in a couple hours. 15 more days to go until the season opener. Temps are finally on the downhill slide but by that I mean the high today is only 92° vs 98° but its progress.

My dad lives in north Texas, he been having some great dove shooting since the season opened. His properties been seeing good flights.

He will be flying up next week and coming with me to hunt in Newfoundland land. Got him a moose tag. Took him there in 2016 for his first big game hunt except for deer. We are hoping for a repeat

Good to see you check in BBM.
After 10 days of wet/ cold weather, it looks like a 4-5 day stretch of hot/ dry.
Might plant my butt in a bearstand during the eves.
Unlike what most think, bear move much better during hot days.
    Good conversation team:rock:

I walked out in the back yard yesterday and can definitely tell its dove season, about 20 doves took of at breakneck speed. I rarely dove hunt anymore but do enjoy eating them. I will take a weekend to go sandhill crane hunting this fall. I'm addicted to those ribeyes of the skies.

Bob. Those younger brown colored crane are fantastic eating.
I wake up to them every morning this time of year. Can hear them for miles!.
Sitting on the deck here in North Mn watching the sun come up and can hear them now.
