I sacrificed my state wide tag last year does shoot this five-year-old bully that was not much on the antler size but had a Booner nutsack. It paid off as 3 much better bucks moved in just after. [IMG][IMG]

Lol yeah I figured this contest was going to be entertaining. I went out to check the less intrusive cameras and just had a couple does. Haven’t had much since the 25th. That was about the time I had my firs hard horn and some of the oak trees started to drop. Fingers crossed the right bucks stick around

I have one buck on camera that I would probably shoot this early. Another farm that I hunt has some really good deer but they don’t show up till mid October every year. Wind is [IMG]wrong this weekend for me to hunt this book, but I should be able to get after him next week

I wish Illinois allowed baiting. It would help the deer heard and help us get some deer in the freezer.

I would like nothing more than them to end baiting here.

MI has allowed baiting the last few years. It is banned this year because of CWD. I have mixed emotions and results about it. I have shot very few deer over bait. Most trail cam pics are at night. And I find myself getting lazy on changing my hunting strategy to follow deer sign and movement. I do like the fact that hunting over corn when it’s late December betters my chances of filling the freezer. Especially since I can’t plant food plots and there is minimal food sources in winter. I hunted over bait all last year with no luck.

I just got into it last year and man I am hooked! I personally like shooting some honkers more than ducks but man are these little suckers fast! Really keep you on your toes

I’ve been goose hunting since I was 12. Would go with my dad and uncle before that. We really only hunt a managed unit that has gone down hill the last 10 years. But it is still fun. I agree I would much rather hunt geese than ducks

Got my oldest son hooked on goose hunting last year as well. This was youth day at the management place and only youth could hunt. He killed the first goose he ever shot at. Missed a couple of ducks and other geese that same day but it was a blast.

Nice job! Got into bird hunting about 15 years ago. The hunting pressure and low bird numbers has made it extremely tough but it gets you hunting sooner.

Indiana has a reduction season that starts September 15th but I do not have property in that area so our regular archery season starts October 1st
