First time applying and I drew a gator tag. It’s an 8 hour drive north to the panhandle but I’m looking forward to September! 4 other friends drew also so we have a total of 10 tags.
Man that is cool. I watched some shows that showed a guy cutting up a big gator. Meat looked darn good. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Congrats! That would be a rush for sure. Might have to add that to my bucket list of bow hunts. Good luck!
This is from FWC “What are the legal methods of take for alligators? Bows and crossbows Gigs, Harpoons, Spears, Spearguns, Hooks All points used in any of the above methods of take must be attached to a restraining line and should be capable of fully penetrating an alligator’s thick hide and won’t come out when you pull back against the alligator. Explosive or drug-injecting tips are not allowed. Fishing poles using a weighted treble hook Fishing poles using artificial lures Baited wooded pegs (must be less than 2 inches long) using a fishing pole or hand-held line Hand-line snatch hooks Hand-held catch poles Hand-held snares Bang sticks (the only firearm you’re allowed to use for alligator hunting)” We plan on using heavy spinning rods with 80lb braided line and 12/0 weighted treble hooks.
The time has come. Jon boat and rods and harpoons are all in the truck. Headed out at 3 am for a 9 hour drive to Panama City for the weekend to hopefully snag me some gators!
Have to ask you live in southern Florida and you have to drive 9 hours to kill a gator? Back yard not close enough?
It’s a random draw. I put in 9 local places and a wildcard and I got the wildcard but I don’t mind cos we have a place in Panama City right near the beach so we took our wives and kids and made it a mini vacation. Win win all round!
