On a little tiny 20 acre piece close to my house, a giant has appeared. Putting together a plan on this one fast. Wasn’t a farm I really had any expectations at all for.

Got some pretty cool pictures on a farm next to a river. Nothing giant yet though.

The plot I feel the most confident I will kill a giant in is off and running. Planted 8/11 and I have radishes 3” tall already. If you look close in one of the pics you can see another plot on the opposite side of the field.

Spent yesterday hanging a few more stands.
First one is on an old logging road. A gap in the old farm fence funnels deer across the road right by the tree as they cut across a pond dam and go out to a big bean field 1/4 mile away. I watched deer use this spot last year from a stand 100 yds away, so I moved it.

Also hung a stand on the bottom side of a ridge covered in huge white oaks. My stand is right where the cover changes from open oaks to thicker cover. Tons of trails on that edge.

There are tons of these things on the ground. I hear deer like them

Next one was pretty similar. One ridge over from the last stand, I put up another, but on the top of the ridge where the oaks thin out and deer travel down a mowed path going to a big hayfield

Put up a few more stands this weekend.
This one is on a farm that is primarily Ag. Never really paid it much attention last year but there are some good deer on camera so I figured I would put up a few stands. This one is in a fencerow where there is a 20 yard gap in an old farm fence and deer cut through the gap to enter the field. Huge tract of timber to the south that the deer come out of.

Then I went to a different spot where a couple really nice deer are showing up and put up a blind and stand. The blind is on a point where the deer cut around a super knarly section of timber with a 30ft cliff, so deer basically have to walk around the edge of the field to get to the bedding thicket to the East.

Then I put a stand up at what I call 4 corners. 4 different fields come together. 2 corn fields, a bean field, and a flower field. To just look at it, doesn’t look like much, but cameras don’t lie. 2 different 170” deer are living right here.

On another farm bordering the river, I put up a stand in a big hackberry between the river crossing and the corner of the beans. No giants on camera here yet, but its the type of place one can show up during the rut. So I may as well be set up and let my cameras tell me if I need to hunt there

More EHD finds yesterday. Walked into the woods near a creek and the whole area smelled of death. Found a doe in the creek, then back at the truck the neighbor drove up and said he found 2 giant bucks dead in the same creek on his side of the fence not 100 yards from the property line. Absolutely sickening. Haven’t seen which bucks it was as he didn’t pick them up, but I have a sinking feeling since I have a few big deer that have disappeared on camera.

4 more found dead yesterday evening. One of my landowners actually called me to tell me she found one and that the whole place stinks of death. I went over and found 3 more pretty quickly. This is bad. makes 3 of my farms that are being hit hard now.

I did spend an entire day putting up stands and blinds on one of my farms; unfortunately we found 3 dead deer in the creek that day, 2 being bucks, and several mature deer have disappeared on camera. Farm looks absolutely killer...hopefully there are still some deer around come October.

Right now Colorado is the only mature buck still on camera on 240 acres (9 cameras).

Hung a set just inside the timber at the corner of a hayfield where the creek and a steep ridge and old cattle fence pinch the deer into a 30 yard wide area.
