Heading out early tomorrow morning to scout! Supposed to be nasty hot and humid. Checking out two areas about two miles deep.

This first spot is one I posted last week, and I have since found out there is no hunting allowed that far north in the bow hunting only zone to the west. SUPER important, and this area could be so amazing!!!
The black line running vertical is the property line.
I won't be able to hunt the funnel, but I'll scout the entire eastern side looking for entry and exit routes.

The second area is the furthest, I'll probably head there first. Last year I did scout to the west of the blue line last year and it was brutally thick with mountain laurel. I had to hack my way from the west to get to the blue line where it opened up and I found a well worn trail on the military crest.
I'm now going to be concentrating on the area in the black circle. Another spot that holds some amazing potential. I'm assuming to find a run on the red line, and would assume a great buck bedding area within the yellow circle.
    Thinking out loud here***
The only problem I forsee hunting these deep spots is getting the buck out. I think I'll have to learn by watching some videos on how to quarter up a deer and how to save the hide. A kayak would only get me half-way back (Will get one for next year), and it it a very rough trail for mountain biking. The other side of the lake there is a trail good for mountain biking but would require a three mile ride. That would only take 15 minutes or so on a bike though, and I could store/stow/hide the kayak (And game cart too) directly across the lake from where I can paddle across. I could then hack a trail over the terrain to get to where I want to be....PERFECT!!! Bike and kayak purchase in the near future!

No sir.. still sick. They have figured out I have celiac disease but thats it so far. They recently put me on a pill that made my stomach pains go away but it took away my appetite (I have already lost all the weight I can from being sick) and it ended up putting me in the hospital because I had a bad reaction to it. :bigcry: Been out of the hospital for a couple of days and still not feeling back to normal yet. When I get back to normal I am going down for more tests and in hopes of getting better before Oct 1st!

Damn man, hope they get it figured out. That's a long time to go through something. Good luck with it and don't test the limits for sure.

Still getting a Robin Hood at 40 yards out of a crossbow is pretty sweet.

Few things they don't tell you.... It makes you prone to lactose intolerance. Makes absorbsion of vitamins and nutrients harder( so take vitamins everyday and magnesium) . And it can be beat. Through low dose of gluten every day and the willingness to torture yourself you can build up a tolerance. After years and years of torture I can eat 1 meal a day without restrictions.

Joe, you ever thought about hunting 10 to 20 different spots on that public piece you hunt? Serious run and gun. Go in an hour earlier than you normally would each afternoon and scout your way into new areas. Mix it up. I'd be happy to take a look at that map and give you my humble thoughts. And you will always have that old school area in your back pocket come the rut unless you stumble onto some hot spots in October.
