My wife are trying to figure out where we should go for a trip. Las Vegas, New Orleans are not options. She has been west to the rockies, we are not doing NYC either. Time line is spring break in March. We like to hike and fish. I have free car rental days, hotel points, and FF miles.
Arizona, Montana, or Maine would be my choices. There were a ton of people fly fishing the Salt River when we went to AZ. Never been to Maine but would love to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Montana is the only state I have never been to, but she has been there. My wife lived in Arizona for a while as a kid so that is out.
Santa Fe. Trout fishing, hiking, skiing, great food and a lot to do. We go out about three times a year and always stay a couple of days at 10,000 Waves, perfect for a couples getaway. The restaurants are top notch in every price range.
Lots of nice national parks in Arizona and Utah. Monument Valley and Moab are 2 I'd like to see myself.
An underrated place for outdoor vacation is the Hot Springs, Arkansas area. I recommend Lake Quachita. Hiking trails, fishing, camping, etc and its beautiful. Been going there for years. Water is crystal clear. Surrounded by national forest. There are a lot of reviews on Google to get an idea if you're interested.
Used to have a customer in Hot Springs.Nice place. Another place might be Branson, MO. Have you considered the Great Smoky Mountains National Park? Townsend, TN is at the western edge. Several independent and chain motels, several good restaurants. Great trout fishing, hiking, waterfalls, wildlife, etc. BTW, Gatlinburg is a short drive from Townsend. G'burg is a tourist town with crowds and horrible traffic until after Labor Day but weekends can still be bad. Some outlet malls in Pigeon Forge, if that interests you. PM if I can help. Knoxville, TN would be the closest airport.
Thanks all for the suggestions, my wife has mentioned Moab, I have been there but I was with on a fire and didn't get to see any of the cool stuff.
Western PA...my daughter is going to grad school out there and I have been very impressed with the terrain, woods, and just cool little small towns. If you want a little city time as well Pittsburgh is cool without all the east coast "flavor" you would get further east.
It is funny when I first started I carried a camera and would take pictures, after about 2 seasons I realized that all my pictures were hey look here is a picture of a mountainside on fire, and another and another. It has has to get that way for you as you move up if you are still tweaking after 2 season you have zero business in a leadership position.
Well I guess that the good Old USA is no longer in play. I refuse to go to Mexico, Jamaica, oh and that other place where people drink and die. That decision was made after I said hell no to the Keys I know that she would not want to be in the car with me in that traffic.
West coast of Costa Rica (not at the all inclusive resorts... get a condo or something)or Kauai (don’t think of it at USA). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And if you are an Arkansas resident, there is a seven month long archery urban hunt in a nearby retirement community. The only problem with this suggestion is the March is often Tornado season.
