I couldn't imagine not seeing deer on a hunt, you've definitely proven there are really deer there, but man I admire your persistence. I don't think there is anyone I root harder for when season rolls in.
Leaves are brown and it's cold. 20 feet high in a tree with a light wind and low humidity. Wind blows and the scent of the trees and leaves hits you just right. In that quiet moment, all alone in the woods like a needle in a haystack, I feel most alive. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Got a few hours of mowing in before nightfall yesterday. Wake up this morning to the does feeding in the yard. Time to start turning some dirt and replant for fall plots now. Gonna be a long day getting the property back up to par........
Before and after pics. I add more area to the plots every year . I almost just doubled the size of this one. More work to be had though, next weekend the chicory will hit the dirt!
Got my rut stand out of the swamp today... Not a good idea when it’s 87 degrees and humid. Crazy how different the land is from fall/summer. Trudging through grass taller than my head and going shin deep through water/mud with a stand and sticks is not fun. I am so out of shape. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Been a very hot and humid day for plots but I got it done. 2 plots turnt up and ready for seed next weekend. Back to work Monday second shift and work all week to come right back down for more fun!
I found out at church today that a couple of people there own undeveloped lots in the city where I have the urban permits. I hoping that I can get permission to hunt or at least park there to fet easier access to hard to reach spots. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So you pretty much just hunt in the front or back yard? Wish I had a place like that pretty open with a selection of trees, minimal lane worries. Granted I could hunt a major trail 40yds from the main house where I hunt, but would have to do it from the ground. It's good mainly in the evenings and might try it once or twice this season.
It all depends on the year but It all depends but yes I have been known to drop good bucks in this yard. Last year I prepped thanksgiving day dinner. Got to the stand at 330 on the creek line and shot a beautiful 9 pointer an hour later. I mainly plant this plots for the does and turkeys. Girlfriend and little one like it when they come in the yard all year round. Plus the fawns being new have a safe heaven here til they get somewhat wiser
When stuff like this comes into the yard or running the creek bottom by the house sniffing for does I can't help myself but to keep planting every season. Keep those does around and the big boys will come eventually!
Is this Southern IL? Can't remember if it was you that stated coming down for a few weekends to prep things. If so what County? I hunt mainly private land in Morgan County, but in a rare instance I try public it is Cass County. Site M/JEPC
I used huntstandlite but don't recall it having property lines and landowners. Not sure about the full version. Here is what onX hunt does,(not sure if you are familiar with it) random properties so I do not know them Orange lines delineate property lines, second image when you tap on one tells you size and owner name.
Huntstand does something similar. They have stepped up the quality of the app to try and compete with OnX Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It's funny that I know most of these land owners lol. Grew up in San Jose and went to school at Illini Central Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
