Finally got my cameras out today. Checked a card that was in my browning since last November... to my surprise it’s still taking pictures. 3100 pictures from November-August 8th on a mineral site in central MN. One of the snowiest/coldest winters we’ve had in a while and it’s got 53% battery left (cheap rayovac batteries). From this day forward I will recommend those cams to anyone and everyone. Best 2 deer on the mineral site so far this summer. Mineral site hasn’t been refreshed since last summer... Guess it wasn’t needed. Joined the balloon squad. Don’t hate on my backwards hat. Riding the wheeler and found it on the side of the road Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jake I can forgive the backwards hat if you are under 30 after that you are like the guy that is not blind wearing sunglasses indoors.
Well, it wasn't exactly precision surgery but I got my G5 Montec back Nothing a little duct tape can't heal up
So this happened this morning. Two gaurenteed tags in my pocket with more that can be earned when the first two are filled. The grouping is from the accuracy testing at 20 yards. I qualified with my compound and crossbow. Crossbow will be my backup weapon if something happens to the compound. Urban season opens September 1st. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Checked cameras today, nothing worth talking about, damn storms took down a butt load of trees. Field tested the tree saddle and hung for about 45min, it’s not as bad as it looks. It was humid as hell today, sweated my buns off up there. Luckily the tree I went up is right off the creek and requires no clunking through the woods. (Posted in saddle thread too)
Heading to southern illinois as we speak......300 miles one way to get ready for October. The things we do for bowseason! Scouting, hang stands, food plots and set cameras up all in 30 hours. Then back to work Monday to go back next weekend and finish up. It's a good thing I love this stuff!
Might go out scouting monday morning to check out a few land features. Hoping to find a few buck beds on the points, and some heavily used trails coming out of the swamp.
Is that the same area you hunted last year? I remember you talking about a swampy area. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
5 weeks to go and here I am contemplating a new bow again. I've now shot Hoyt, Mathews, PSE, Bowtech latest bows. Not going to get really long winded but I am hooked on the Hoyt Helix. Realm was a close second. Miles beyond my aging Drenalin! I'm an idiot. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Same woods but a different area. it's about a mile and a half from where I park. I need to get a bike!!
I've felt the same way the past few years. What I have finally come to terms with is, to forget the areas in the woods I have traditionally hunted. the terrain is not condusive to predictable movement. there is to many areas for them to bed and eat. Sure there is plenty of sign there, but as the previous seasons have shown, I could hunt it all year and only catch a few deer moving through. I've spent a lot of time over on the hunting beast forum. there is so much information over there it is mind boggling. I feel like I know nothing everytime I'm there!
Hopefully made my last purchase aside from tags and gas. Ordered more unscented soap, I'll start using that in about a month in place of deodorant soap. Still have a few bottles of green slime scent killer but rarely use it. Might need a bottle of scent killer spray but still have enough for quite a few hunts. I'm going to be riding the 4 wheeler 3/4 the way to stand this year. Something I have never done but my feet are going to hell anymore, knees are getting worse too. My uncle did it for the last 25 years and still killed deer, will definitely help with the sweating on the way to stand. Furthest stand that is becoming my favorite is probably 3/4 mile, downhill first then up and down hills final 1/3, those are what get me onnthat back stand.
