cranked out a BW leg workout the other day, still sore today so did a two mile run at noon (terrible idea) to get the blood flowing through em again
I finished Wednesday off deadlifting with a client with a patriotic deadlift workout. In honor of America’s 243rd birthday, we did deadlifts at 245lbs (243 isn’t possible on the bar) with the number of reps being the years you have lived in this great nation. I did 36 reps in 6 sets of 6. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Took a couple days off bc my back tightened up. Got back at it today. Good warmup on the elliptical then right at this to begin my day... Dumbell power cleans followed by pushups. 10 power cleans then immediately 20 pushups 9 power cleans then 18 pushups 8 PC then 16 pu And so on down to 1pc and 2 pushups Took me about 10 minutes. 55 power cleans 111 pushups In 10 min. Let's just say I felt like crap and took me 5 min to recover to complete the rest of my workout Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
After the run I did 50 pull ups, 50 push ups and 5 bear crawls weighted with 100lbs for 25 feet. View attachment 93852 Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Dragged using a cable stack with extra long cable set up. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If you can, post up a pic. I can't picture where you could get that sort of travel from a stack. I got the legs today but want to mix it up when I can. (below with 30 minutes of elliptical hills) I was thinking I could do with my weighted pack... Along with lunges, squats and maybe some suicides at a local rec field.
I used a belt specifically designed for use on a weight stack. This allows the movement. I will make a video of it.
Less concerned about the belt, but on most stacks the weight travel is directly proportional to the cable travel (2 to 3 ft)... So with out some pulley or 'gearing' I can't figure out how you'd get 25 ft of pull...
Been doing a hybrid type workout plan for strength, size and endurance. Just finishing up the 6 week program (5-6 days a week). https://www.muscleandfitness.com/workouts/workout-routines/6-week-workout-serious-strength IMO, if you have a lot of working out experience like I do, I had to tweak each day and add more exercises to the program. I have seen some pretty good gains and strength from doing this program. I like the endurance part of it doing a minute between each set roughly... now I am pushing myself to do roughly 30 seconds between sets on some exercises. I saw my bench go up roughly 25-30lbs , maxed out at 320 a couple weeks ago. Deadlifts (been years since I've deadlifted really but just hit another PR yesterday at 435 with what I felt like I still had room to go)
A little uncle bragging session. My 15 yr old nephew loves football plus he is a great student. Kid went to a d1 football camp this weekend and ran 2 40yd dashes in the 4.7s, benched 250lbs, and power cleaned 215 lbs. I'd say that is great for a baby faced 15 yr old kid. There are 15 guys under age 35 in the gym right now. Not one, besides myself, are doing any type or leg lifting. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Too many "curls for the girls" and not enough "legs feed the wolf" among the young kids. I see it all the time working at a university. I am pretty sure I have more horse power in my engine at 36 with three kids and married for almost 12 years than most of these kids had when they were 16. I rarely see any of them break a real sweat. Meanwhile, my workout today was my 5 minutes of running at 8 mph alternated with 5 minutes of step ups in a 35 lb pack for 60 minutes. I think I sweated more in an hour than some of them will all year.
Today was cardio lite (. 5mi run at the start and 30min on hills at end) , but included a healthy set (rather 5 sets) of lunges and jump lines with a 20# medicine ball...and the same unloaded. Along with some up and overs with the medicine ball and mantis between. A bit out of my norm, but digging some variety.
Been getting some meniscus pain in my right knee. Had the medial part scoped almost 25 yrs ago. Dang it I need to lose 20 lbs Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
My son woke up at 5am today and ran a mile, all on his own. This is a kid who has been been pretty much bed ridden for a year and a half bc of exhaustion. 8 months of strong medical treatment may finally be starting to help him. I'm beyond happy. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Great to see you guys getting after it. I was pretty bored with my split that I was running forever and have recently switched to doing full body workouts. I did a good deal of running over the winter months and ran a 10 miler and a half marathon in the spring. I had a little knee pain on some of my longer runs due to muscular imbalances and flexibility issues. The full body split lets me train legs everyday (and everything else). I enjoy it so far not sure how effective it will be in the battle against sarcopenia.
Leg (mostly) day. Warmup run lunges w medicine ball & w/o Back squats Leg presses...post sets, felt good...worked up to find 1RM... Bailed at 410 weights on Atlantis sled. Light shoulder work Pushups Back
