Quieting bow

What is the best way to make your bow quieter? I am shooting a 2010 PSE Brute. It just seams like it had a twang to it. I put on dampers on the limbs and in string. Thanks

I do cat whiskers like in this vid.
A stabilizer with some dampers in it may help a little also.

Heavier weight arrows quiet the bow down a little as well.

 

First lightly tap your bow to see if there is any rattling or noticeable vibration. Tighten down anything that is make noise. Be careful not to over tighten. I good stabilizer can help remove some vibration. Also a very thin piece of mole skin on contact areas that make noise helps. There is lots you can do but ultimately it boils down to the source of the sound.

I had a bow I couldn't seem to get rid of the noise it made. As a last ditch effort I changed the string and cables. That fixed the issue. Drove me crazy for a bit. Good luck.

 

I heard something on here about harmonic dampners one time

Harmonic dampeners must be tuned to the "base tune", i.e. the bowtype-specific dominant oscillation, and it's harmonics.
Measure the vibrations, analyze the spectrum, and design a dampener specifically absorbing said spectral components.
And place near the location where the maximal amplitude of the vibration was measured.

In other words - get a new bow, or live with it (or what earlier mentioned standard methods achieve) ...

 

look into a Cool Hand Luke string stop. It makes a huge difference. Also possibly look into heavier arrows? I increased my arrow weight by about 50 grains and it quieted my bow down significantly.

 

Of course everything tight.
Heavy arrows. I don't run heavy arrows, but have read they can really help quiet a bow down.
Good stabilizer.
String leach/whiskers.
String stop. Set it so the string just touches it, you don't want it pushing on the string.

 

X 2 on heavier arrow. What you loose in speed you'll make up for in a quieter bow. The difference in sound in a carbon arrow and aluminum arrow through my bow is huge.
