I hunted 2 specific bears that the guide wanted to get me a shot at. I’m not a bear expert, but according to the guide either one would be the bear equivalent of shooting a 200” whitetail. Both are 500lbers. One a giant chocolate, and the other a black one with a huge double white blaze. Basically with a south wind I could hunt the chocolate. With a North wind I could hunt the Black one. I hunted the chocolate on day 1, 3, and 4. Hunted The black one on days 2 and 5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I never ended up seeing either one, although they both came by my stand within an hour of me getting down after dark. These are some of the bears I passed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Day 6 had a weird east wind that didn’t work for either bear, so I went to a totally spot on the last day. The first 5 days I passed up a lot of really good looking bears, including at least 2 300+ lbers waiting on the bigger ones. On day 6 I wasn’t after a specific bear so When a decent cinnamon boar walked in I decided I wanted him. Shot was 19 yards and he only ran another 20 after the shot and was dead in 10 seconds. For those interested I shot him with a Rage Trypan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Overall I couldn’t be more thrilled to have my first bear be a cinnamon. I enjoyed the hunt much more than I thought I would. I would absolutely do it again. As a sweet bonus...I picked up a small moose shed on one of the trails we took into the stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok back to deer stuff....been working like a wildman to catch up on mineral sites. I have 23 mineral sites this year. 21 are out...still Need to get to two of them. The deer are absolutely demolishing mineral this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Found a little shed next to one of my mineral sites. Must have been a super late drop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is a little kill plot that I frost seeded in March. Doing pretty good for being a brand new planting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also found this little guy yesterday walking into a mineral site. Tis the season! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like you had an incredible first bear trip! I've been to Saskatchewan several times. One trip never seen a bear. That big chocolate and black are gooduns. The one you killed looks great. Did you hear the death bawl?
Ohh yea he did the death moan 10 seconds after I shot him. He was down in a hurry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats on your bear! It really sounds/looks like you had an awesome trip. That Lodge is quite nice, especially considering it's remoteness.
Yea fun fact. The lodge was built by the guy who has the TV show Timber Kings. I have no idea how much it must have cost to transport all those logs and rough finished trees for the lodge. None of it is native wood. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Starting to get rolling now. Put up a new stand behind my house based on observed movement the last 2 years. I have watched a lot of deer cross under this tree from another stand. No real reason based on topography, but for whatever reason the deer like walking by this tree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
