Stumbled into another boat deal could not possibly pass it up a 1984 Larson Wildfire with a Mercury Tower of Power on the back. I know the owner and the boats history going to be fun a 50 + MPH go fast ski boat. It is all vintage 1985 all sparkly but pristine and beautiful.
You'll like this one Tim. This is also the windscreen I was asking you about. Which we will be fabricating.
Crap If you need the windshield gasket part number I can find it in my files it is a taylor made product name.
Don't think so, but I may bug you later if we do. For now the screen is now badly crazed. So we will probably start with a template and lexan. Maybe make a form to get the bends/angles right.
My wife once again is so incredibly impressed, except this is not a boat that looks like a hunk of junk. Plus I got it so cheap I could not turn it down.
Nice looking boat. Now you'll haveta go buy your wife something to smooth it over haha. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
So my friend is a little strange and I believe slightly bi-polar he was flighty about what weekend he was going up to the cabin so I could pick up the boat. He finally texted me and said 1 cylinder was dead and I could get the boat cheap, I passed on the deal I do not need another project. I have been looking for a fishing boat since on Craig's and I believe I found the boat I want. I wanted a 16' boat with a flat 1 level floor pedestal seats nothing fancy. I found the perfect boat a 16' Lund with a side council 50 hp no live wells, so a light boat. Boat owned by an old timer that never let it sit outside and it is clean, best part at a good price. Heading to Mille Lacs for smallies.
So the boat is a 1983 Mr Pike motor starts right up and runs awesome, got a depth finder/GPS and a trolling motor, carpet and seats like new 50 hp motor with tilt and trim $1850.00
@Sota any idea where I could start, trying to find a rebuild kit for a '52 or '53 15hp evinrude fastwin. Not sure how cost effective it would be, but have one laying around and tired of looking at it. Either giving it away or if cheap enough wouldn't mind getting it running and swapping out the 8hp on the jon boat I never use
I was going back and re-reading the original thread and posts. I remember the good ol' days when all boats were either wood or molded plywood like my Dad's Sears boat, about 1955. Had mahogany deck. I was at a gas station at the GA/TN line and a fellow had a big wood boat. I was told it was a copy of the old Christ-Craft boats. sota, what vintage motors do you have in the collection? Our old boat had a 25 hp Mercury.
Fwiw for the Merc rebuild and prior Evinrude rebuilds we did... we could find carb rebuild kits and decal kits. Just about everything else was stripped, cleaned and inspected. Worn/broken parts gleaned from a donor motor. Sometimes you can find random parts on ebay or online. On rebuild, after scrounging parts... Wiring and gas lines replaced. Exterior components repainted. Decals reapplied.
That seems to be what I was garneringnin my searches. Motor still has good compression so probably the best route to go. I procrastinate a lot so probably just give it to a coworker eventually
