My feed stations are working. This trail goes 500 yards across a corn field right to my alfalfa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Checked a couple good bedding ridges. Tons and tons of sign, but no sheds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
On the way back to the truck I took a different route across the corn field I walked in through. 200 yards from the truck my day was made. Matched set to the stubby 10! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What cutting of alfalfa you feeding? Shed hunting here is still at least one month away. Balls deep snow with no melting in the forecast next 30 days
Walked 8 miles through a foot of crusty snow in my best shed spot. It was brutal. I hate this snow with a passion. I picked up 3, but only covered a fraction of what I wanted to hit. Snow wore me out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Crazy thing is I found the opposite side to one of the same bucks last year. This buck is super old. Didn’t grow at all. People would swear the 2 antlers are a set if they didn’t know they were found a year apart. Left side I found in 2018. Right side found today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Trudged another few miles through deep snow yesterday and picked up a small matched set. Sides were about 15 feet apart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One benefit of all the snow is it has shown me a few things about how deer use the property. This trail was literally beat down through 18” of snow. I don’t have a stand within 200 yards of this spot. I will have one there this fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My standing corn has been absolutely demolished. Looks like a cattle feedlot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Speaking of trials, how goes the charges against your neighbor for hunter harassment? Go to court yet?
Walked my new 80 Sunday. Found one antler. Pretty cool finding the first shed on my own place Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yesterday I walked my new big lease. Not thoroughly...still too much snow. I just hit the South facing stuff that was melted off. Pretty sweet creek bottom full of big buck sign Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Picked up a shed from last year on the point of a south facing ridge in the middle of a huge block of timber Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Then I picked up a sweet matched set in an awesome funnel between two sections of timber Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was out setting up a little green house at dark last evening and was burning a few patches of weeds and grass around the greenhouse spot. We had emergence of spring peepers here for the first time last evening! It was amazing to stand outside in a t-shirt and listen to the peepers and geese and ducks flying over as they hopped from fields and ponds so I had a mild breeze of evening air with the sweet scent of grass smoke in the air, peepers piping all around and waterfowl honking and quacking with whistling wings flying over and turkeys wings thumping as turkeys went to roost just over the hill from the house. It was quite an ensemble, I just had to sit still for a little bit and take it all in. I thought, yep this is why I love being out in the country.
