Lake Hope (little farther E of Lake Alma) has its own hunting and is also like 30 minutes or less from at least 3 game areas and has a big year-round camping area that can handle everything from 30' camper/rvs down to tents. Cabins also available. Thousands of acres to hunt w/in that 30 minute radius and lots of varying terrain. I went on the website and as of now October is outside of the reservation window- we can't make reservations until mid April. Pretty sure that's across the board on Ohio State land.
Lake Hope it is! That's where I'm going. You fellers are welcome to join. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
If I am able to go, anyone coming from the south or MD..we can link up enroute and save gas costs if anyone is interested. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I would be hitting that interchange as well. Lets keep in touch about this if things are looking good to go.
Jason emerges from lake, strolls up to camp, takes off mask..."so any of you guys comfortable shooting white tail past 40 yards"? Cracks open a Budweiser. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Lake alma has a campground with electricity that is within 20-30 minutes of just about all the public land you could ask for. Theres also a campground called lazy dog (not as secluded and right beside a highway). Vinton furnace has a camping area but no electric. That's where I camp because I enjoy roughing it lol they do have a bathroom but thats it. I live in vinton county. Anyone has any questions ask me. If you scroll up you can see some of the deer we've taken and also some more info. Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
By all the public you. Could ask for I'll name a few....lake Rupert(wellston wildlife area), broken aro, Cooper hollow wildlife area, zaleski state forest, Richland state forest, wildcat hollow(coalton), and many more lakes all around the area. Its really endless around these parts. I prefer vinton furnace because you can literally walk as far in as you want. Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I have already made tenative plans for Lake Alma. I have a buddy coming down with me to film and that's where I told him I was going. Lake Alma campgrounds is pretty nice and a good price. On a side note I'll be bringing some homemade wine Sent from my Pixel 2 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Can you swing by my house and pick me up? It’ll only add 34 hours to the journey but I’ll chip in for gas. Thanks
Vinton furnace...I wanna hunt it just because it sounds so cool. Talking to my grandson I wanna say...Like the time I hunted the furnace, son...there I was... *thousand yard stare* Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
