Without a doubt external battery pack. I can't say 12 volt. Some use 6 volt. I made 7 packs so far. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I'm sure externals last longer but I have had various cameras last 6mo+ with AAs. Thousands of pics, too.
You're going to get different answers by climate alone. Add in even more for camera brand and settings. Probably be best to include where you're from and whether you are wanting rechargables or not, camera you are using and desired triggering.
I double my battery life with the packs. Summer or winter. But then again we dont get real cold in the winter. The rechargeable aa batteries don't last as long as normal alkaline. I have a bunch of tenergy rechargeable that I don't use anymore. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Well if we are getting technical, a solar panel will last indefinitely. I have a couple of those. But honestly, energizer ultimate lithium AAs will outlast just about anything else. I simply won't run alkaline anymore. I get 3-4x the battery life out of the lithiums. I have multiple cams out right now running on 4 energizer ultimate lithiums that have been out since August. I have 2 cams with 8 batteries in them that have been out since July.
Thanks for the input, I was looking at cabelas and it appears you can get an adapter for like $20 with alligator clips to clip on to a 12v battery and plug into your camera,
If it's a cell cam, and it doesn't have a built-in solar panel, you will definitely want to go with an external battery pack. If not, most regular cameras will run 8 months to a year on a set of lithiums. That said, I have ran rechargeables for many years because I have so many cameras. Believe me, they save alot of $$ in the long run. Blessings...........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I had solar panels on two of my packs but you need sunlight. None of mine are out in the open so I took them off. I can hide the cams better without it. I just have two spares, one 6volt and one 12volt and swap out as needed. I have my packs on all 5 Spartan cell cams and 2 of my Stealth 4k cams. I also have the browning packs for my 3 spec ops extreme cams. Energizer lithium last twice as long in my cell cams than alkaline but that's an expensive option. All my Reconyx cams have lithium batteries and last about 4 months depending on activity That's 12 batteries in each. It all depends on security, time between checking and activity. I only do videos so if you only do pictures it may not be as important. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
How would you have an external battery pack? Sent from my Z971 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Cheap also. 10 bucks for Apache waterproof case at tractor supply after coupon. Under 20 bucks for 12 volt battery. 6 volt batteries are 2 for 27 bucks. Cords were approx 13 bucks each. That's it. Yea you need drill and some silicone for the hole in the case. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
