Well guys and gal.. this season has been a real learner. Mans best made plans and such.. I am going out once more on Tuesday, the last day of the season just to bid it adieu. I highly doubt Tenderloin Squirts will show himself but hopefully I will just catch a nice sunset. I would like to congratulate all those that put points on the board and console those like myself that hit it hard and came home empty handed. I love bow hunting and I think we all know it's not so much the killing as it is being able to be out in the great outdoors and experience nature firsthand like no other style of hunting. It truly sets you on a different path than other hunters. A bow hunter without patience is not a bow hunter for long. This is my 30th bow season and I will gladly eat tag soup knowing that big dude is still out there and will meet with an arrow of mine someday. Until then, it's the three P's. Practice. Patience. Persistence.
Was a great season with you guys! Already looking forward to next hunting season, just being in the woods is what it's all about! Also leaving the gun at home in 2019! Likewise gents. It was a blast. I ended up lowering my bar a little this year but I’m glad I did. Like you Okie I usually hold out for a mature bruiser but I ate tag soup on bucks since 2012. Passing great deer along the way. Still plenty of big bucks where I was hunting and it was such a fun hunt. The does I took were fun hunts as well. Overall a very successful season. For those of you who are upset about not filling tags I feel your pain and have been there so many times. Hunting, and Bowhunting in particular, has as many lows as it does highs. The lows make the highs so much higher though. Next year is a while away but just around the corner at the same time. Congrats to all on a fun and successful season and a great team. Hope to see you all in the contest or the live thread next year but also keep in touch through the off season. Love to see projects, habitat improvements, fishing adventures, turkey and mushroom hunting etc. Good luck to you all. My season ends next weekend here in Illinois but I doubt I’ll get out. If I do I’ll keep you’s Posted. If not, Hunt hard and hunt safe!
Score isn’t everything. I’d rather see an old warhorse like that taken than a 4 or 5 yr old with big antlers. Congrats on a nice trophy
Love the one hiding under the leaves... I’m not one for oneupsmanship but now I’ve got to find the picture of the 12 lb pile my buddy and I found one morning many years ago. It has to rate as one of my top 20 days of being alive. Yes... I said 12 lbs....
Lol! I too have had hauls like that! My old place that I sold to get my new place was morel heaven. I am a little bit mycologist.. I grow shiitake, oyster and white elm mushrooms.
And it starts all over again. Put the cameras back out. Haven’t seen any of my target bucks. Cut a trail from the property line where two of these pics came from, to a bedding area. I’m hoping the trail that is hinge cut on both sides (kinda like walls) will promote more travel during early season and provide forage. Public land scouting next weekend!
