That seems kind of rude, what the hell did poor Trident ever do to you? I'm going to go find your cameras and flip them off.

Well I can’t get anyone to come take pictures until tomorrow. So all I have for now is a midnight cell phone pic. Better ones soon.

Where's the beef? Seriously, congrats on getting it done last minute. Did he have a discernible injury that would have caused that strange growth?

    Congrats!

Off the topic of Trident - I am curious about the deletion of videos being talked about in here. Keeps getting skipped over.

    Crickets.......

He may need to do that again. On his way in to kill this deer, he mentions hunting over an acre of corn that he "knocked down". I know a lot of the big hunting celebrities do it, and seem to get by with it. But, at the same time, others have been fined for it. Reason being, in Iowa you must follow normal agriculture practices when doing food plots. So, knocking down corn is actually illegal by letter of the law. Some CO's look the other way, others...not so much. When you run over standing corn to knock it down, or mow it down so you can see and shoot into it, it's kind of obvious that you are doing it to attract and kill deer and that falls outside of normal agricultural activities. Our baiting laws are a bit ambiguous and get some guys in a pinch.

The regulations are pretty specific that you can do it for sunflower plots when hunting doves. But, if that field later floods after mowing, then you better not get caught shooting ducks unless you want to deal with the Feds.

Im starting to think you need a tinfoil hat Fletch. You are incorrect on knocking down corn. There is no difference in leaving it standing or knocking it down. I have discussed this with the CO. Now if I harvested the corn, then carried it back out there in a bucket...then it’s illegal. I’d think you would be happy. I wasn’t even sitting on a fenceline this time

You go with that. I know for a fact that some CO's will roast you for that. But, if yours is good with it, so be it. Makes no difference to me. But, if you read the detailed baiting laws, you will find that a case can and has been made. Is pushing over corn normal agricultural activity? The quick answer is, No. Anyway, good job in taking out a bully, cull buck. Looks like he definitely needed to go.

Since you bring up the fenceline.....why did you delete those videos?

I agree 100% there is a lot of grey area for interpretation. Maybe I’m lucky that i hunt primarily in the same 2 counties as a lot of those “big time” guys you speak of; I deal with the same CO they do. I have a hard time believing a CO would ever try to make a case for someone who uses standing corn unless he was super bored or had a personal grudge. The amount of food available is the same whether stalk is upright or not. Baiting or feeding of any kind is illegal all year round in Illinois, and you can still hunt corn as a food plot there. Dan Perez knocks lanes down in his every year.

How far can you shoot through standing corn? "Celebrities" doing it doesnt make it legal. Drurys get resident tags and are seldom seen by neighbors in Iowa. Lindseys also hunt every year on resident tags while owning mansions in Georgia and running businesses there and having families there.
