Oof, it's always a kick in the gut ain't it. At least he was tagged and hopefully used...I find at least one per year here that was shot by spotlight out in the field and had nothing but it's head cut off in a hurry. Found another one this year.

Nope. I suspect he is dead as well, as he was around like clockwork until mid October and then not a single picture since.

hard to "like" that, but you know what I mean.
My dream deer are the following:

    1) a giant mature clean 130+ typical 6
    2) giant clean 8 150+
    3) a big old gnarly mature deer like Trident

Its always a hard pill to swallow but I cant fault any one of these guys, the deer you have pics of a deer of a lifetime for most people on this site. My biggest private land buck wouldnt break 135" but was over 300 # biggest deer ive seen on that property and ive hunted it since i was 14.

Yep you are right. I’m happy for them. I’m extremely picky by choice. I don’t expect everyone else to be that way.

The big timber farm finally had a deer show up that peaked my interest. Big massive 10 point. Definitely a shooter.

I hunted the big timber farm yesterday. Checked a card by my stand. This year continues to be weird. Bucks chasing does back and forth in the middle of the day the last few days.

I still hunted a deep valley out of the wind. I found a super fresh rub. It was definitely made within a few days. The weather has the deer all messed up.

Booner, that pic does not appear to be a rub for some reason?

Kinda looks like porcupine, only reason I say that is I been fooled before up at my camp. Hard to tell without seeing it tho. I have videos of bucks chasing doe here in PA too. When I been out during late season it’s been dead tho .

Yea there aren’t any porcupines here. No water close by either so not a beaver either. The back side of the tree isn’t rubbed, and there were fresh shavings on the ground under the snow. My first thought was that it couldn’t be a rub either. That’s why I went over to investigate haha.

Well today was one of my best hunts ever. The deer disappearing from my home farm has me very perplexed. So yesterday I went glassing and found a whole bunch of deer using a cow pasture that has no cattle in it. Defies logic with standing corn and beans available 2 miles away at my place, these deer are feeding on grass in a cow pasture. Go figure. I stopped and talked to my neighbor the owner and he gave me permission to hunt. So today I snuck back there. I only made it 150 yds from my truck and had to hit the ground because does were milling around on the opposite hillside. I ended up laying there until dark. I couldn’t move or I would have been busted. I was covered up in deer from 3 directions for 3 1/2 hrs. At 3:25 I spotted a GIANT rack. Huge typical 10 point with a broken brow. He beds down at 325 yards on the opposite hillside. I watched him lay there for almost an hour. Then another buck walked outnof the draw. It was a big 4 year old 8 point I have a shed to from last year but no pictures of. 145-150” deer. The 8 point walks up and spars with the giant 10 for 5 minutes. All the deer are starting to work my direction now. A bunch of does filed through a lane i had at 95 yds. The 8 point was coming with the giant behind him. I set up my shooting sticks and got ready. The 8 point walked through and stopped in my lane on his own. If he had been alone I would have killed him, but the bigger one was coming so I let him walk. The giant got just about to my lane and then took off after a doe and chased her over the hill out of sight. Of course. I laid there till dark and backed out. Weather sucks for the rest of the season but considering these deer have had zero pressure im gonna go back as much as i can. I think I have a good chance to get on one of the two bucks again.
