Which are the arrows everyone raves about. The Easton axis ones. Is it the 5mm ones? Or is it the under armor 6mm ones? Thank you! People like these better then the fmj? It’s looks like
Been shooting Axis for several years. No complaints at all. They shoot well at long distance with fixed or mechanical heads and hold up as well as any others I’ve used.
Ok and regular broadheads will screw right in? Or do I need somthing special? Using slick trick magnums 100s
Depends on what kinds of inserts you get with them. I have the deep six inserts and you have to get broadheads with deep six threading. I used Slick Trick Magnums with the deep six threading. If you get the regular hit inserts I believe that is standard threading. As for the arrows, they have been fantastic for me for two season. Tough arrows with good flight.
Do you think it’s worth spending the extra few bucks and getting the 5mm match grade ones over the regular 5mm
No, the .003 shoot great. If you don't like the HIT insert the 6MM Axis are also a great shooting arrow and have regular inserts.
I have no idea. Scared of the unknown? Maybe they are scared of the little bit of extra labor to get them set/glued right? Or maybe they don't want the HITs because they think footers are no bueno? I am really, really happy with my arrow set up which includes 75gr HITs and VPA footers. They fly phenomenally- the .204 (5.18mm) arrows look like darts as they fly rather than wet noodles like when I shot CX Maximas with standard inserts
Gotcha. I might just go with the standard hit insert instead of weighted. Here’s what I am looking at Arrow - 29inch - 10.7 = 310.3 grains Hit insert - 16 grains Vanes - 6x3 - 18 grains Head - 100 grains Nockturnal - 20 grains 464.3 grains total
there are people on here that have a lot more experience/knowledge than I; but I don't know what the advantage to a non-weighted HIT would be over a standard insert. Be curious to know if there is one.
You guys think the axis is better then the gold tip xt’s? If I went gold tip xt I would add 50 grain insert
I shoot the Goldtip Kinetic Hunters. They seem to hold their spine so much better than the Axis but I would say the Easton components are better. The Kinetic series shafts are practically identical to the Axis and the components are interchangeable between each other. I know in the 300/340 sizes the HIT will fit inside the Kinetic as well as the X nocks. The Kinetic Hunter has a .006 straightness . I spin test them to see if they run out on both ends or just the point end. If they run out on both ends , I cut both ends to get the straightest shaft. A neat trick to save $$$ instead of buying the more expensive shaft with a tighter tolerance.
