Anyone have any tips for a starting point for a Western SD DIY public land bowhunt in the prairie areas? I've never hunted out in Western SD before, so it's all new too me. I've been scouting via OnX for the last week, but that doesn't really help much when trying to figure out roughly where there's a decent chance at both species. I don't need your spot, but narrowing down what I'm looking for out there would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
Maybe check into the blm land north of wall, up by the Cheyenne River .Down by Scenic in the badlands or up by Buffalo. Just some ideas for you to ponder
Your welcome. I know you said prairie but we are starting to get some really really nice white tails in the hills. Again just something to ponder just saying.
Thanks guys! I've been on OnX scouting areas like a madman trying to find at least a few down separate areas so that I can take a long weekend trip this summer to scout a few places. I've also decided that I'll be chasing turkeys with the bow out there this spring and will try to hunt a few of them so I can get a better understanding of the terrain and game species in the area. I'm ready to get out there!
