I thought we’d already established Ohio as the destination for Columbus Day weekend Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I’m not saying there is no big deer there cause there is, but I would suggest more research Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes more research is needed. OHIO is the state we will be going to Columbus day weekend (October) 2019.
Yeah thought everything was set except the wildlife area well be hunting in Ohio Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I'd centralize the camp set up. Have it between the most public land spots you can get. Little parcels and things spread out over a 30 mile or so radius. I'll need to look at my schedule to see if I can slip off for a few days.
Here is a good link to view all the Ohio public land spots. https://gis.ohiodnr.gov/MapViewer/?config=ODNRLands If we hunted southern Ohio we could also hunt western West Virginia and northern Kentucky. Just some options.
I also like the idea of a central camp site, then you have option for any surrounding areas. That way were not locked down to one piece of public land. It will keep options open for deer sign and hunter pressure. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I live in vinton county and a ton of public land options here. There’s a hunters campsite at vinton furnace (where I actually hunt). Has a bathroom but that’s about it. I believe it’s 20,000 acres but zaleski state forest is also nearby. Plus a few lake public land options. Really it’s endless around here. Not sure exactly where you guys were planning on rolling and I’ll definitely keep checking. Just pointing a little lol Mathews Halon Black Eagle outlaws Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades Nasty combo
Don’t get me wrong the sign at Woodbury was great but it sounds like a lot has changed the past 5-6 years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That was my concern too from what I was seeing online but who freaking knows. Hell I've never even set foot in Ohio. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
That's the problem with looking up public on line. The first result will show it as the greatest place to go. But everybody does that and it probably pulls in alot of out of staters that never hunted ohio. The locals know we're to go, but will never post that info online. The best way would be just pick a area of interest that has lots of public option within short drive. Then people can do scouting trips this spring to get some boot on the ground info. I would be open to going for a weekend this spring and scout. Then i can share what I find out. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Yea i think the best option is picking a central location with multiple pieces within a 30 minute or so distance. Let's us spread out and also hit different areas depending on pressure Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I have attached some info off of the ODNR website. This is basically the last 3-4 years. Top counties and public land offering best opportunity to take a deer. Everything is eastern to Southeastern Ohio.
