I was under this same school of thought, so we headed out for an evening hunt. Mid-morning, my friend who owns the property text me with info that she had 8 doe hanging out in the hay pasture between her house and the dried up pond we hunt over. I figured that once we got set then the odds were on our side. Oh how wrong was I? We sat for two hours watching a blue heron fish the little bit of water left in the pond. At 1645 hrs we had (what sounded to be) a deer moving close behind us. Just at the point it sounded like the deer would walk up on the side of the blind, it sounded as if it turned and walked away from us to our Southeast. The good news it that it never winded us and it seemed to walk away calmly, but we never laid eyes on it. Confusing and frustrating since we had deer all over us a little over a week ago in the same spot. Back to the drawing board I guess.
An asthma attack kept me out of the woods today, and this guy decides to show up at one of our ground blinds. SMH.... just my luck. Kind of wishing technology hasn't got to a point that I can get pics to my phone in pretty much real time, right now.
Anyone done any good in the past few days. I was out on our newest piece of property this morning (not the same property where the buck I posted last was), and didn't see anything but two small does. Looking ahead I'm thinking that Sunday may be a prime day with this front moving at us. At least I'm hoping it is.
I laid off hunting Monday and Tuesday. Been out since 6am and just had a couple pairs of does and a small 120" 8 point. Of course Tuesday morning my #1 buck worked a scrape ten yards from my stand at 7.15am, broadside, for 7 minutes. Hoping the action will pick up tonight.
Good luck buddy! Yeah and it seems like the top Hit List guys seem to know when we aren't in the woods.
Got this dude Sunday morning. By far the biggest buck I’ve killed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not really. It’s been a rough deer killing season for me, but I was able to get my mom on a 5 point that had made the mistake of walking out in front of her 1 too many times! Had my neighbors dogs kill 1 of 2 #1 bucks last month. His dogs decided to take the antlers off my property, I think he dropped the antlers from stress. Haven’t had any other bucks hitting the feeder since gun season, other than a big horse. It’s not looking good for me killing a buck this season. Hope everyone else is having a good season. I talked to the warden about the dogs killing the buck and he said if I feel threatened by them, shoot them. But I didn’t tell him about them taking the antlers. I even asked the guy that owns the dogs if I could buy the antlers from him but he completely ignored me. I’ve been trying to kill that buck for the past 2 years and his dogs kill him. But ever since that 1 dog which is a hog hunting dog ran around my feeder from 4am-2pm I haven’t been getting any pictures of bucks like I was getting before. I had a a lot of bucks to choose from but now I’m not seeing any. I was hoping to get an arrow in this buck but haven’t seen him in awhile. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not sure I’d want those dogs anywhere on my property. Pretty bad deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know. My Mom was actually able to get the antlers from the guy for my Christmas present! Now it’s time to make a memorable mount for that buck. I’ve recently started getting pictures of a buck that I think is one of his offspring! So now it’s time to try and kill him! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Been ready! I'm working in Northwest Arkansas this year so hunting over there as well. This covid put a dent in the freezer, time to stock up!
