what percentage of you guys choose let’s say a black bow over a camp bow? Does a camo bow really have a difference? Does it really help ?
Long as there isn’t a glare to the finish I don’t worry that much about specific patterns. Have had both Black and Tan solid color bows too and I felt there were fine to hunt with...
I prefer black..I use my bow for turkey hunting out of a blind, deer hunting from a tree, and also 3d shoots. I just like the tactical black look tbh but I doubt there’s any difference as far as being spotted because of your bow. All depends on what kind of movement you’re doing with it. Hell half of us are out there right now with blaze orange on with our bows in hand lol also all depends on how and when you move. Mathews Halon Black Eagle outlaws Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades Nasty combo
I've hunted with a black bow since 2013 and killed a pile of deer, I killed five the first year I had the bow. I hunt exclusively from ladder and climbing stands around 10' up. Anyone that says bows need to be camo'ed is looking for excuses IMO.
I think it is far more important to avoid colors that stand out to a deer's eyes rather than worry about colors that they do not see. For instance, I would not hunt with a blue chrome, shiny target bow. But colors that look like natural colors are fine. Movement is more important than color.
Bow color doesn't matter at all. A friend of mine years back hunted with a green anodized target bow with the chromed out cams (think it was a Hoyt). It was very purdy and shiney. He killed good bucks all the time with that thing. Its a personal choice. I like the blacked out bows, never owned one but would if the right one came along. I never liked most of the dipped camo finishes because I always thought they just looked "messy", even though thats what I bought because I'm not picky. However my current Prime is Optifade Elevated II and it dips very nice on a bow. Probably my favorite camo on any bow I've seen.
I agree - camo on your bow doesn't matter. I don't think I've owned a camo bow in 5 or 6 years and have never had an issue. Most of my bows the past few years have been Stone (gray) or black w/camo limbs. It's more about what you think looks nice than trying to hide from an animal. Put just about any bow out at 20 yards and look at it - they're almost impossible to see regardless of color.
I used to prefer camo...but now prefer a flat black. However, should I be in the market and since I ride the Mission or last year's model train I will always grab a camo one the shop is having trouble selling if that is the case LOL
If I ever buy another bow, it'll likely be the stone color, if not then it'll be black. I do like the one other camo on Hoyt that has a scale like pattern on it. Apologies I can't recall the name at the moment.
I can't afford a new bow like you rich farmers. Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
If it gets down to the color of the mattering then I'm done. That's just an excuse. Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I have killed deer with black, camo, wood (recurves and longbows) and even a white bow. I buy bows I like and don't stick to any one color or finish. Whatever catches my eye when I am buying.
That's an oxymoron if I've ever seen one.. The John Deere and equipment dealer, now those guys are the rich ones. I have almost decided to pull the trigger on the new PSE Xpedite and I am going to go with the black or charcoal since the Kolorfusion patterns add more money to the bottom line and I do not believe it will help me beat a bucks nose which is far more important than concealment. Now, if PSE comes out with a color a deer can't smell...
If I gave a rats backside, which I don't, I'd have my bow paint dipped something totally original and different.
Mine is a Camo riser w/black limbs. I think it’s a pretty sweet look. Deer don’t care what your rig looks like. I would focus on quieting it down and concealing my scent.
