Damn, think I would have busted out the knife or found one of the 2 misses. I've spined one unfortuantely. He dropped and got up on the other side of a tree only front lefs working. Had to hurry down and got another in him. Lost a shaft and two broadheads in the ordeal.

It's definitely a freak out moment for sure.

Not saying that deer is legit.. the setting looks right and the antlers dont look all bleached out like most high fence deer you see tho. The story will come out as I think thats a new state record.

there's no way I'm trying to stick a knife in a 200+lb animal that has full use of the front half of it's body when said front half has 8 sharp bone points thrashing around. You can see that spine shot was back. He said he had a deflection on that first one and I believe him- dude is the best stone cold deer killer I know. He's a good shot on the range but that dude is a straight deer assassin. In 10+ years of hunting with him I've only known him to miss one deer ever, and that was also on a deflection. Kills at least 1 decent buck every year on MI public land, and that's not easy. He passes on a lot for a dedicated 100% MI public land hunter.

I am guessing the second one that hit a branch was destroyed or stuck in. I know he uses Rage 2" cut on contacts so either way I am sure it was trashed. Clean misses bury deep in that soft ground- he was in a cedar swamp.

in regards to mine, if I had to do one thing over again (other than anticipating him stepping down making the shot high) I would've gotten down to stick him with #2 +--->. But he was flopping around so much that I thought he was going to be able to get up at any moment. It is what it is. All you can do is try your best to dispatch them as quickly as possible. Might not make the best choices in the heat of the moment but important thing to do is recognize they deserve the cleanest quickest death as possible and try to make that happen.

Hunted till 11 saw 8 deer total.
Had a group of 3 mature does close but wasn’t able to get a shot, a small 4pt, a 6pt cruising, a decent buck dogging a doe and another buck all the bucks were 60 or more yards away

Then came home and had to unclog a gutter, wash and dry all my gear after two days of hunting in the rain and getting ready to watch some football with the family!

Try again in the morning and then gonna have to come home and do leaves and mow yard.

Good luck everyone who is out tonight

By no means was I faulting either of you. Easy to say what we would have done, but without being there in the moment we don't know. I envisioned an hour trek back to camp or something

No worries either way, we can try to control every scenario, but there's always the unforeseen or uncontrollables with everything.

Both were recovered and put down.

If you guys use your smartphones as an alarm, don't forget to change it for an hour earlier tonight. The time will change but your alarm won't.

Don't be that guy/gal tomorrow morning.

    Congrats Arrowflinger!

My daughter decided she would rather go to sky zone tonight than sit in a tree with her dad.
Sun is out wind is blowing and Bucky wants to fight.[IMG]
