I have several bucks on my property that are all weaker on one side than the other pretty significant really anyone have any ideas to why Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
They could have suffered an injury to one side of their body. That can make one side of their antlers grow differently. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We have one with a beautiful 6 points on one side.....the other side is just a spike...no signs that we seen for injuries. His time may be coming.
I had always heard that about the injury thing and from what my eyes have seen I would tend to agree. It appears to affect the opposite side from the injury. I have saw a deer this year with a broken right front ankle, decent little deer with 3 points on the right side and just a spike on the left side. Would have been a nice little 6. I have also saw other deer like that but I don't know if there is scientific evidence supporting that claim.
I have the same thing, guy on neighboring property I believe shot this buck last year opposite side of funky antler. It's pretty amazing how it affects them long term. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Seems like a pattern this season for Many of us... I have several small/Young Bucks roaming my Lease this season and 1 (pictured below) with a weak right side.... I went yesterday morning till 10:30 after working midnight shift and I wasn’t on the stand 15mins and had him at 15yds.... I’m not taking him...as you can tell he’s not great by any stretch of the imagination on the left side...
I’ll weigh in and see if anyone can help me on what might be going on with this one? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hard to tell from that picture. It’s in velvet and could have just busted it during the growth. Or he could have what has already been discussed and have an injury causing the abnormal growth? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
