Hope the truck thing works out first of all, definitely not something needed at this point in the year(if any).

I only have an hour 1 way and still conaider it burdensome. 4 hours I could understand the lead into 1st gun season. Should still be good week anyway.

You using the shotgun or using the biw for gun season?

When you draw back and finger hits the release you'll know.

Same thing for fence sitters on bucks, as soon as they walk out you pretty much know if you're going to attempt a shot.

When they meander about offering different angles is when temptation can get the best of ya.

Slow afternoon only saw two doe’s and a fork. Think the full moon and clear sky’s had them moving later than normal.

Had some does come up to the edge of the plot but gpa had the boys on the back deck screaming like banshees playing and having a good time so the does decided to have their evening snack elsewhere.. We had a wonderful sit together anyway and it was nice being able to hear the kids having so much fun off in the distance.

Yea, I meet with some other guys on our lease for gun season. It pretty much dictates what week I take, but I usually do alright. I also hate hunting in the heat, might still be a little warm the first week?
I think I'm sticking with the bow. Last year was the first time I did that, and killed a doe. Just about every deer I killed with the gun the past 5 seasons, I could have killed with the bow. I don't feel real confident with the gun at long distances anyways, so screw it

All settled in and waiting on daylight. Seems really quiet this morning. Good luck to everyone out. Stay safe!

In early. Now light. Several sits in a row with no deer. Hoping for a change. Had one come through in the dark. Good luck out there!

I'm dealing with the case of....where the heck is my safety harness? How in the heck does that happen? Wear a harness yesterday and have 0 idea where it is. Did I drop it by truck after hunting. Did it blow out of my truck bed? Did someone steal it? I'm lost.

Same here. At one time I was deadly with my slug gun. All my shots are 50-60 yds or less. Then idk what happened. I blame the slugs. Lol honestly though I can’t get a good consistent pattern with any of my guns. Had others shoot my guns too to rule out if it was just me. It’s not. I keep hearing more and more people talk about wounded deer getting away with these slugs. I’ve shot Lightfields, Hornaday, rem copper solids, federal premium. I spent over $100 one year trying to find a slug that worked. One year we all shot lightfields and 3 lost deer. My uncle tracked one for over a mile and when he skinned that buck, the slug was not deformed whatsoever and still had the plastic wad on the end! Curious if anyone else noticing same thing. I’ll be using my bow this year

I'd take that! I am struggling to even see deer this season. I've seen 1 in 10 sits which is extremely rare for me.

And only seeing three does is a slow sit for me.. Hang in there man. I think this next front and the closer to the end of the month we get it will ramp up the activity for us southern plains hunters.

Full moon, could also have some midday movement the next few days as well.

That moon was huge this morning.
