I use Sitka gear bc it’s the best gear I have came across, I even buy used pieces used on the web. I have costa sunglasses bc there the best polarized sunglasses that I hve found for fishing. I have a yeti cooler bc it keeps ice longer than any other cooler for my hunting trips and when I’m on the boat all day fishing. All this time I don’t even know I was a rockstar.... All that aside the future of hunting is getting scary if this is all the stuff people think you need to be a “status symbol” or a cool Hunter. I used to piece so much random hunting gear together and I killed just as many critters and caught as much fish. Just finally at a point financially where it’s nice to treat myself to quality gear.. just waiting till I buy my Polaris to haul my Rednck blind to my 500 acre farm hahah. One day when I do I won’t fee guilty at all!
I score preety good but not great. I have three yeti coolers .I have owned Pretty much every sitka gear item they have made. I switch watches often, Filson, Hamilton and Luminox are currently in the rotation. I have two pairs of Costa in the line up. Matthews bows make great boat anchors. Hoyt ...woudlnt take one for free. My grill is a Weber. Wonder what my grade is...B maybe ? Enjoyed the write up though.
I think that this article clearly illustrates what is wrong with the hunting community. Plus they omitted the best stickers for the back of the truck.
Only status symbols I ever considered is taxidermy on the wall, you know actual success rather than what the posers are wearing or shooting.
Did you even read it? It’s filled with tongue in cheek references. Stop being so miserable. You need a hug.
I don't like to be touched. It is a rainy monday and I am still a little pissed I didn't get back from Detroit until Saturday night.
I'm with sota... not completely sure this was tongue n cheek. Especially since some of these are sponsors.
Everytime I read an article like this in always think of that one guy in my hometown. You know the one, never even had two nickels to rub together, hunted with an old Bear Whitetail II in some well past their prime BDU's and somehow always seemed to get a monster buck that was easily a booner and would say something like, "Its meat for the freezer, you can't eat the horns."
Well, I've got a Hoyt bow, but it's 10 years old. I don't feel the need to "keep up with the Jone's".
I shoot a five-year-old Hoyt Charger, their midlevel offering at the time I bought it. The rest of the stuff? Unnecessary status symbols. My $20 igloo cooler keeps ice long enough to get a deer home. I have hunted in -20 weather without Sitka gear, I survived and had success just fine. Spend money on tags and trips, not status-symbol equipment.
