Season starts tomorrow! The last week has been low around 60 and highs around 75. Tomorrow, lows around 65 highs around 85. Love early season weather in oklahoma. I'll probably not get out until Thursday, but hopefully a doe goes down soon there after. Good luck to all of you that are out now or that get to start tomorrow!

Saw 7 deer last night, all does. Was watching a doe at about 34 yards and closing in on me when a coyote started howling and scared them back into the woods.. might hunt this evening but it’s pretty warm out

IMG_0582.JPG Was able to fill part of the freezer and get us 50 points last night! Crazy night to say the least. Saw 5 bucks, 11 doe, and a nub buck. One buck was biggest I’ve ever passed while Bowhunting (upper 20s-lower 30s eight point)

Congrats haastyle way to get the team started.

With that, just a reminder to everyone that there needs to be 2 different pics of you and deer with your bow for the points to count. Also need to include date and time.

Well guys, took the GF up to the farm and had her help me put up a 17 foot ladderstand. Let me tell ya...if your relationship can survive dragging a stand through the woods in the rain then I think it's a great gauge to see where you're at in your relationship! She did a great job and we got out of there with only a few scratches and bruises. As we were headed back to the truck we had a great encounter with what I would estimate a 125 inch 8 with a drop on each sign. Never seen that guy before but he was too busy gorging himself on our brassicas to care too much about me.

    Good luck tonight!

I hoping to get out tomorrow evening. Another heat wave hitting right now. I have yet to see a deer from stand, which isn't always a bad thing. Just narrowing down the spots I thought were good. I'm going to keep moving and hunting new areas every sit, and eventually I will get into the bucks.

Got blanked tonight, the weather calls for rain and a big heat wave so I’ll probably be out of the woods for a bit

Well it almost happened tonight! I stayed mobile tonight. I walked into a area I found during shed hunting in spring. There was a active scrap in there in April. I started running into good sign but just keep moving til I found great sign. Then right were I found that scrap in the spring was a ton of feeding sign a couple fresh rubs on trees and the scrap was still active. I knew if there was a buck in there he would be above me on the ridge. I climbed a tree and waited. About 1.5 hours later a saw a flash of antler about 150 yards out. Sure enough it was a good buck feed on acorns and slowly working his way down to me. Took about 15 minutes to get to me. He stopped at 20 yards wide open, but I decided to wait til he went to the scrape. That was a bad decision! He walk to the scrape and looked directly at me at 18 yards. I found out after that I skyline myself and was sticking out like a sore thumb! Great encounter and happy that the setup worked perfect, I just need to take the first shot available to me next time. Lesson learned, won't happen again!

That’s a bummer. I’ve messed up plenty of times by not taking the first good available shot. Tried to get them a little closer and end up getting busted. Always a good lesson in that. Hopefully everything will work out better next time

Sounds like you are at least onto where they are moving! Are you seeing any fresh scrapes by you?

Yes, that's what I was hunting last night. This was a community scrape I found in the spring and looks to be active all year. This was deep in the woods and believe he was bedded on the ridge just above me about 200 yards away. That's the only reason I saw him 1 1/2 hours before dark. My goal this year was to be more aggressive and move in closer. Seems to be working so far.

Haven’t made it out yet here in Michigan. Waiting for some cooler weather and less rain! Good luck to everyone getting out this week.

I don't think it is ever going to stop raining up north! Man it has been a wet early fall!
