Trying to install a gambrel for deer skinning etc in the shed who has done this? Pics? How would you go about reinforcing a truss like this ?

I was going to just put two eye bolts in each 2x4, but I don’t wanna bring the roof down lol.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Maybe reinforce the truss from the floor up similarly to that of a garage door?

    Yeah I wouldn't trust just a 2x4.

I built a grambel with a 600lb manual hoist and chain in my garage. I mounted mine into a 4" X 4" cross beam. I would buy a 4" x 4" that will run the width of the shed and put that up for a grambel and hoist set up.

In my garage which has similar trusses to your shed I cut 2x4 blocks and screwed in between the gussets at the peak. Then I glued and screwed 3 2x6s together and screwed them to those blocks. Its distributing the weight over several trusses. You could put one in the whole length of the shed if you wanted. I just put a chain around this and hooked my hoist to that.

That looks great but if it were me I would still want to distribute the load to the other trusses too.

I like the idea of the 4x4 spanned across the stud walls. Also, I don't think I would want to hang a deer from that dinky eye bolt. You will likely be yanking the hide off the deer which can take some serious pulling. Chain wrapped around the beam would be better.

I’m about to do something similar, I got a winch off Craigslist for $20 now I just need to figure out how to mount it without bringing down the garage.
