If you have a local outdoor archery range perhaps there may be broadhead practice targets.

Well this afternoon didn't go the greatest. Was running a little behind. Got a mile back to the oaks and there was already a deer in there. As I was starting to sneak into the oaks at least 5 wolves started howling a couple hundred yards away. That was enough for me, so I snuck back out and worked my way back to my car. I do pack, but a pack of wolves is more than I want to deal with.

Shot a doe this morning, but unfortunately I rushed the shot. She was headed back into the timber and I had a very small window. Shot was back and slightly high. Found blood but not great blood. Ended up bumping her as I headed back , but she didn't go far. I'm hoping she bed down and I can go back in a few hours and find her. IMG_20180922_090152.jpeg

Another home project checked off the list...however being the proud owner of an older home, there is seldom any projects that get completed "real quick" LOL....11.5 hrs later and 3 trips to three different stores and heres hoping that i will not have to deal with frozen water pipes this winter! (Heres hoping theres some actual snow ground cover this year to help too!)
Maybe now i can concentrate on deer slaying!!

Is there water near by? Gut shoot deer will almost always head to water. If she bedded down that quickly after you shot her than she is really hurting. Might have to grid search the area.

Hoping to get my first hunt of the year this afternoon. It's been pouring rain but the radar shows it possibly letting up the last few hrs of the day. If it does I'll start my 2018 season today.

Any blood trailing dogs nearby that can come help?

Otherwise huskys seem to have a very good nack for finding dead things...or if you know of a dog that has a good nose and is pretty inquistive...

Otherwise grid search and watch/listen for a gathering of jays, crows and vultures nearby

We took our inquisitive husky mix in the woods to look around and still nothing. We'll probably just wait for the vultures, unfortunately.
