I need to read the rules for this contest before I enter that buck. It’s probably only 130 inch buck at best and I have another buck tag for Fort Knox Kentucky archery. Not sure if there is a time limit to enter this one, but I would hate to enter it and then go to Fort Knox and kill a 150 or 160 which is very possible.I may go to Ohio at some point as well.

It is my understanding you have to enter the first one killed regardless of size. You can double check, but pretty sure that is how rules are written.

That's correct, its the first buck you kill. Even if you don't enter this one and hunt for another and get one I'm sure since you already posted about this one the next would not be allowed. Just post it, it's just a friendly competition, no reason to push against the rules.

Nice buck, congrats on the doe. I don't even have a license or tags yet. Still have 2 weeks before season starts. Put a couple cameras out 2 weeks ago. Probably check them Sunday. Here is a picture from last year of the one I will be after this year. I know he made it through last season. I just hope he stays in the area.

Yes the rules state that it is the first buck you take.

I went Saturday afternoon. I didn't see anything close but I glassed a hill side and saw 5 deer heading towards the river...I'll be out this weekend especially Friday with the rain ending Thursday and the temps dropping should be a great weekend

Good luck to all those already hunting!

I finally got my bow back from the shop. Now to site it back in and I’m ready for the 1st!

I think I've reached a new level of frustration in my hunting career. Took up trad bows this year and said I'd be happy to get any deer within 15 yards and consider it a trophy. Well on this sit I had to watch 3 bucks walk within 12 yards because new jersey is an earn a buck state and i haven't shot a doe yet. Including a 120 inch 8 point who was under me for a good 10 minutes and I probably could've shot him 15 times. All of this on public land I'm hunting on a whim after class today with no scouting.

In pretty heavy timber. Sitting on a ridge covered in oaks and theres a small clearing were 4 or 5 trails converge

It's always bitter sweet shooting a buck this early in the season. For me at least.

I do it a lot. Sept 6 last year and a little later this year. Best chance to kill a big buck here is early season. I hunt military base after that for second buck and maybe Ohio. Last year[IMG][IMG][IMG]
