Hello, My grandfather is 85 years old and still enjoys whitetail hunting with his crossbow. He needs a new ground blind and I am going to get one and get it set up for him. The issue is that he isn't too stable on his feet anymore and I want to get one that has a good clear point of entry. The little triangle doors are going to trip him up and cause him to fall which isn't a good thing at all. There seem to be hundreds of options out there and I feel like this may be the fast track to finding a good solution. It looks like pricing starts at $69 for the cheapest and can go up as high as you would like to spend. I'd like to stick to $200 or less if possible. If there is something really great for $250, please share that too. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Also check out ghost blinds, pretty neat concept. I've used it for a couple seasons now with good results
I just purchased this one a few weeks ago. It separates at the door so that you can step right in. They are in the $200 range, maybe a little less. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
When you say "separates at the door", do you mean comes apart at the bottom to expose the ground and avoid the narrow triangular shape to step thru? My grandfather has trouble picking his feet up very far and the narrow angular openings trip him up. Thanks
That's exactly what it does. As a matter of fact, you have to unhook it at the bottom to fold it back up. Hope it works out for your grandpa. Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I have the Barronett Big Cat 350. Plenty of room for 2 guys and gear. Windows open pretty well and the zipper goes from the ground to the top. I got it so you can stand up and archery shoot from it. 6'6" tall to the top hub inside. You'll have to spread the opening apart a bit but there's nothing for him to step over that could trip him walking in. $199 on the website but you can probably find it cheaper on Amazon. Lasted for over 2 years now and has spent more time in the field than folded up. Here's the link if you wanna take a look. https://www.barronettblinds.com/Product/2485/big-cat-hunting-blind-with-bloodtrail-backwoods-camo
I purchase a cheap ameristep blind for $100. I put it on a two wheel golf cart. Turkey not included Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There's a cheappo that sells at most major chain stores (and even Wal-Mart I think) made by ameristep called the Dog House. Its has a nice big opening that I think he would be able to get in and out of. I bought one last year for my son and I to hunt in. Its pretty snug for two people (even with one being a child) but if he's hunting alone I think it would work out alright and would keep your budget low.
Had my double bull in the woods for seven years before Hurricane Mathew destroyed it. They cost a lot but well worth the money
