Shot the elk 3 years ago. Deer were 4 and 6 years ago. Nothing crazy for other bucks shot.

I work as a insurance agent. I’m flexible with my schedule since I’m self employed. Makes it nice for the fall hunting. I keep my schedule open for cold fronts moving in.

Won’t try to shoot a smaller buck. Have no problem eating my tag for buck tag. Should be able to shoot a doe.

The elk hunt I’m going on is for meat first. If we happen to get a nice bull we won’t complain. I’ll shoot a cow the first day if opportunity presents itself. Tag is for either sex.

Read through most of the thread. Figured pictures and a little more info on what my intentions are for this fall. I’ll be pretty active on here.

i work (non standard) auto claims, talk to agents all the time...

the only thing I'm worried about with this season is the last time all the fields near us were beans we saw way less deer, and theyre all in beans again.
a lot of the corn near us took some hail damage and already looks pretty dry so hoping for earlier harvest to push deer into woods

Looks like a wet fall here. Corn could be out late. We had beans last year and it doesn’t hold much for deer once picked. Combines don’t miss much.

Not deer related, but it was nice to get out and do a little shooting. We got our two man limit in about 2 hours.[IMG]

    Nice work on the doves!

Spent yesterday mowing the last of our hay fields and planting some food plots. Cameras aren’t showing much for mature bucks but we always have a few studs show up in November. Season is less than a month away here in Ohio!

sounds like chips might get pulled Tuesday, not expecting a ton, we have a small property with lots of mature resident does that are fairly used to us.
our timber gets the neighborhood bucks on camera from time to time this time of year but they frequent our property in rut wanting to bed our big ole fat beautiful does

Not plan A but it's better than nothing. With the rainy weather the creek is running bank full. One of the few places to cross is the pond dam in front of me. Should serve as a funnel for a while.

Popped up a blind 20 yards away with the wind blowing scent out into a bean field.

I don't have high hopes but it beats sitting at home [IMG]

There's just something not quite right about sweat and deer hunting.

I know it's early season but still...

reminder for everyone on how to properly submit a deer in the contest
you need at least 2 different pictures of yourself with the deer with your archery equipment
then list brief description of when and where you harvested deer.
you must then measure the antlers and provide a picture of the measurements or screenshot of app showing what measurements are.

it doesnt look like the score thread is up yet but dont forget to the requirements! go reread the official rules post of you have questions

Congrat on the velvet, Hell of a deer dcaldwell! Way to start us off! That was your #1 on your hit list right??

Hope everyone had a good Labor Day, I spent all weekend walking a new property in CT and scouting. 200 acre farm about 40 mins away from home in CT but in a zone that allows Sunday hunting. Hoping to get out there a coupe days this year. Anxious to see what the cameras show.

My dad and I spent our day yesterday mowing and clearing off the trails in our timber. Got a lot done. I pulled cards and got one potential shooter on cam. I need some different angles to tell for sure. Sorry it's a pic of a pic but I have that cam taking videos. I need to get a ground blind or two bought and put out. Anyone have recommendations on ground blinds that are good for bowhunting in the $125-$150 range?

I’d be interested in these recommendations as well. My buck season is over, now need to get the little minion his first deer. A ground blind would definitely help with that
