Just pulled the cameras on a new piece of property here in PA... Extremely happy Got some goofy looking bucks and it seems to be genetics, at first I thought it had to be an injury but there are several with the strange rack.

Please, no shower and definitely not calisthenics photos this year.

Be asking probably for the first time ever "do deer react negatively to human vomit?"

So I'm on the fence on this guy. I've never gotten a bow buck. I've made two bad shots on my only 2 opportunities in about 6 years. Does haven't been a problem and I have passed on lots of smaller and younger bucks. So I can't say I wont take this guy if I get a good chance. Not sure tho. He's the best I have on camera so far. That's a shooter for many.

Put the bad shots behind you, not easy to do but needed to progress forward.

Don't draw too early, don't release too early. Practice a slow and steady draw with a steady pin and the rest falls into place.

More times than not we rush a shot thinking it needs to be rushed. Hindsight tells us a simple "Meh" or a 3 second wait affords the time needed to make it hit true.

Appreciate that, and I think I have put em behind me. First one was a chip shot and I hung up on the trigger pull, panicked, slapped at the release and hit him too far up and back. He lived thankfully. Second was last year and I have no freaking clue what happened. But...I guess I kind of want the first one to be a little special so I'm being patient. Damn that monkey keeps getting heavier to carry on my back. Plus you guys have been super helpful, and that means a lot to a struggling, passionate bow hunter in a yuge buck slump.

Not at all. Lol. I guess some context may be needed...I'm actually after another buck that is older than this 8. I just don't have a pic of him this year, and I feel like this 8 could really blow up next year. Hence the hesitation I guess.

I can understand that. Setting the bar high is a good thing, but letting the perfect prevent you from accepting the great isn't good. I don't really care about antlers, but I have been disciplining myself to not shoot those two and three year olds when all I really want is good venison. I won't hesitate to take a good four or five year old, and they carry a lot more backstraps than a two or three year old doe.

I don't disagree with any of that, buddy.
