Hey guys just trying to get some suggestions on a good fixed blade Broadhead that flies true and leaves a big hole. I’ve been shooting mechanicals for a while but want to try something new this year. I’m not trying to go out and spend hundreds of dollars buying Broadheads just to test to figure out which I want. I’ve heard a lot of good things about G5, Magnus stingers, Muzzy,etc... but I’m trying to see what other people shoot and get some HONEST opinions from fellow hunters because we all know that commercials and celebs are going to say that their Broadhead is the best, most accurate and most deadly one sold. There are lots of good fixed heads out there. My favorites are the NAP Thunderhead Nitro, Slick Trick Mag, QAD Exodus and WASP Drone. all are short ferrell heads that fly really well. There are tough and sharp out of the box. The WASP drones are probably the better value in regards to price but I promise you they are all solid heads. I have shot the Magnus Black Hornets in a 125 grain for the last three years and they do a good job for me.

G5 Striker (killed a cow elk with one) Slick anythings (one whitetail doe with a ST magnum) Solid (and Carbon Express makes a nearly identical version for $22/3 that is plenty tough for deer) haven't shot an animal yet but wouldn't hesitate to and they fly awesome ditto for Ramcats ...and whatever Magnus that Boonerville shoots.

Had good results with flight from the Montec and Montec CS. Just as good as field points for me. Easy to resharpen too so that’s a plus.

I shot Muzzy 3 blade for years. Animal count is something like 25 deer, kudu, couple zebras, wildebeest, waterbuck, bear. I’m the guy that is ALWAYS trying a new head. Three years ago I switched to ViperTrick, I like the more COC design. I do believe I’ve found the head I’ve been looking for. Replaceable blades, can be sharpened, flies like a FP and cuts a nasty wound channel. Everything I shot with this head has went less than 50 yard. Find someone like me who has a large collection of heads, borrow a few and see which one you like. Good luck and remember, most heads like do a good job if you do your part.
Another vote for SlickTrick Mags. I shot a mule deer buck on Sept 4th at 35 yards and had a pass though, picked up the arrow and cleaned it off and replaced the blades. I then shot a cow elk at 40 yards on Sept 12 and had a pass through, picked it up, cleaned it off, replaced the blades. I then shot a bull elk at 51 yards on Sept 15th and had a 80% pass through, when the bull went to run he snapped the arrow 4 inches from the nock. I retired that broadhead after that.
Again, added to the collection. Shooting V100 Iron Wills. I know, they’re expensive, but the sharpest, best flying head I’ve ever shot. The practice head had been shot into a Block Vault over 100 times and still sharp enough to cut you. Considering the broadhead is what gets the job done, I don’t mind the price.
So I shot Viper Tricks and have nothing but good things to say about them. That being said I also switched to 100gr Iron Wills, the V100. You can tell the quality just by holding it next to any other head. Sharpest head and best flying I have ever shot. QAD Exodus, great head, super sharp, flys true, great company and manufacturing so you dont really need to worry to about getting a "bad batch". Zipped right through everything I put it on last year cant see myself switching to anything else
OK, don't get upset but I think I kinda have the same question. I'm shooting a Hoyt Ignite, finally have draw weight up to 42lb (24.5 draw length) shooting very comfortable. My arrows are Gold Tip Hunter 500, 100 grain tips. Last October was my first ever archery hunt for deer, I made a lot of mistakes and did not get one with my bow (3 with rifle) so this season I'm much more prepared. 40 yards is my longest distance and I'm shooting groupings at that distance in a 6" circle, I'm on the money at closer ranges. OK, enough of that. I'm not going to have help tracking etc if I kill a deer, so I'm wondering should I go with fixed blade broad head or the expanding ones. I've been reading the ones that "open" when shot might not be good for me with my poundage. There seems to be a LOT of different kinds to choose from. And fall turkey is same as deer for archery and I have several birds hanging around my stand, do I need different broad heads for them? Thanks
