I will not shoot a buck smaller than an 8 pt.,but I am 7o years old and have killed plenty of deer in my life time. It has nothing to do with the contest, just my choice. If you want to shoot, shoot, nobody is going to judge.

I've shot a spike buck and a 7 point with gun but I'm trying to get something bigger with my bow. But this season it looks like I have some good chances at big bucks!

Been shooting a lot today. Practiced some right before dark. Filling pretty. Goal is to get 30-45 mins every evening and more every weekend between now and start of season. 20180819_204556.jpg

I admire your perseverance. I hope I'm still going strong when I'm 70.

Good work Josh. I need to spend more time shooting myself.

HHA 5519 for about 15 years now. I typically set at 25 and aim high or low accordingly

I have cheap 3 pin trophy ridge sight. It was on bow when bought new last year. I plan on upgrading just haven't done yet. Changed pins up this year. Last year just sighted at 10, 20, and 30 yards. I wasn't comfortable past that being 1st year. I didn't want to be tempted so just sighted to 30. This year I sighted 15, 30, and 40 yards.

Well since everyone is posting pictures, Here are a few deer i'll be on the look-out for this fall!
I have daylight pictures of these deer in areas I assume to be bedding locations... So my hopes are high!

The deer I would love to get on the most is the buck in the last picture, I have been chasing him for years and he appears to be going down hill in inches but I would love to finish the cat-mouse games that we have been playing!

I have been looking online and going to go ahead and order 2 stands because still waiting on insurance to pay for lost stands. I have only used ladder stands (metal and homemade). What is upside to hang on stands and climbing sticks? Which does everyone prefer and why? I know most people like climbers. I'm not freaked out by heights but not my favorite thing. I've only used climber once and was nervous the whole time, so I'm not getting one of those.

Man they look nice. I would like a shot at any of them. It's cool you have a story to go along with last pic if you could get him. Good luck

Those are some great bucks Galen. It’s always satisfying to get a buck you have some history with.

I like ladder stands as well. That’s being said I kill most of my bucks from sticks and hang ons. I use use ladders as observation stands on the edge of fields or travel corridors. I have a couple hang ons sets near bedding cover that are permanent. Otherwise I use hang ons to close the distance on a buck once I see a pattern.
I have a climber but hope I never need to use it.

Thanks for input. I have never tried hang on but seems a lot like them. I might get 1 to try out.

I used to use stick and hang on, I also use a climber, but as Ive gotten older I feel more comfortable in a ladder. I do still use my climber on occasion.

Yeah I don’t enjoy the hangs ons anymore. Double ladder stands spoiled me.

I have been going though bunch of stands. Got narrowed down to 3 ladder stands. Now going to look at hang ons and sticks. I think I going to order 1 of each. Once get insurance money I will buy more. Just want to go ahead and have at least 2 stands.

We make custom soft plastics in any color or color combo possible we have custom creatures and swim baits , sinkos , finesse worms and more we also have custom colored chatters hand wire tied on trokars unlike the mass produced junk you get in the store at a way better price.
