Bow speed

Just curious what does most peoples bows shoots in fps?
I shoot a 27inch draw length and pulling 67lbs shooting 265 fps

 

I generally setup a hunting bow to shoot in the 280-290fps range. My current setup is a 485gr arrow going about 285fps.

 

I'm not 100% sure what my arrow weighs I know it's a 300g arrow and I shoot a 100g broadhead but not sure what the insert weighs. the bow shop I got the bow at says it shooting 265 fps

 

I'm at 31.5" draw length, shooting a 300 spine gt velocity xt and I'm shooting around 318. Arrow weight is roughly around 420g (+)(-) 3-5g.

My current set up is 26.5" (found its too short), 70lbs, 453 grain arrow, and I'm getting 265-ish. I just bought a Hoyt Hypermax with 80 lbs limbs and a 27" that is estimated at 293 with a calculator, so we'll see.

 

Arrow weight is 426 grains I believe and they are leaving the string at a whopping 286 FPS. Gets the job done

 

Does the draw length have a big effect of bow speed

 

Calculators say with a 375gr arrow, 27" draw at 63# that im shooting around 275fps. Its fast enough to kill deer.

Catwhiskers probably take a few fps, but it’s quiet

 

Mathews Triax with 29 inch draw shooting 430 grain arrows at 70 lbs. arrow speed is around 300.

Draw length is going to have an effect on speed as well as other factors.

Yes very much so. Not worth worrying about though because it’s something you can’t change. Unless you are related to inspector gadget or stretch Armstrong.

i have 2 different arrows
435gr goes 290's
509gr goes 260's

 

Adam, I think you have spine (300) confused with weight. Did you weight your arrows? OR Do your arrows say 300 on them? If so the spine is .300, not weight.

And FWIW: I haven't crono'd any my bow since 1982....it was 187 fps. I shoot heavy arrows, have a rangefinder and do not care what the speed number is. Much faster than in 1982 is all I can tell you.
