I have yet to pick up my bow this year since the end of hunting season last year. I gave up running the archery at the sportsmans club that I have done for the past 8 years. I was really burnt out and started to hate archery. I needed a break and so I picked up the fishing pole a lot more this year and this is what has been going on:

I jumped a big one going into one of our spots he was a legit shooter!

Snatched a few cards one the card malfunctioned on the other 2 had a couple decent deer and “Igor” made it through the season last year!

Skeeters and flys almost carried me out of there last night!

These deer all have/had good potential for this year.

Looks like some great potential in pics already. Definitely looking forward to seeing you guys connect with some of them.
Dawg I’m in about the same situation. Compound bow has sat since my doe. Recurve I got out with the kids and shot a few times but nothing much at all. Few things good and bad going on taking attention and time so haven’t pushed like I should to get ready. Finally saw two spikes in the field the other day. First Bucks at all I’ve seen besides miles away biking one day. Hoping to check cam sometime and see what’s been through but usually something more motivating to catch interest but nothing yet. Worst case I don’t plan to eat a tag so if it’s another spike or doe they’re all trophies here, potential leading up to opener will dictate what kinda patience I use. Really hope a lot of stuff is settled so next year can get back to scouting and more leadup enjoyment and setting some standards to push for

I have been running my cams all year round so that is the only thing I am doing right now. I have to move my stand since I was busted a couple times and I got a tree that has more coverage that is only 5 yards from where I am at now. I have to watch one tree since it is leaning into another tree. I don't think i t will fall into my stand. Should be safe but will be keeping an eye on it.

Dawg looks like your having fun on the water. A few of those though you might want to throw back lol. Or put in a aquarium lol.

Wake some nice bucks on cam man. Looks like you should have a few target bucks this season. As mentioned I don't get buck pics until Halloween. Like literally zero lol. I'm running a brothel over here. I have does every single day on camera. At literally every camera. Zero bucks. Maybe the odd spike. But come Halloween..... Let's just say. The milkshake brings all the boys to the yard lol

Dawg... the break is good for. Always good to get some water therapy! Looks like you caught some bait too! Haha

Here are a couple new ones.

This coming weekend I will flop my cards again. I am like Chago though about bucks not showing up much. I get a few but not many. During the off season it seems to be a doe hang out. Then when season starts to kick off I get more bucks that travel that area. I am in a small funnel area and the big boys usually stay in the big timber a half mile away.

After not getting shed hunting at all this year and not getting much going for cams yet or anything, happened to have the first real buck sighting for the year. Too bad how it was. Woulda been a pretty nice one for season. Planning on scouting around in that area sometime but haven’t got to it yet. Guess now it jumps up some on my priority list

Put a couple cameras out Sunday. I won't pull the cards until Sunday at the earliest. Saw a really nice buck while driving this evening. He appeared to be in the 130-140" range.

What a waste. That would have been a nice deer come October.

I did get a tag and gonna have a euro done of him, cheaper and cooler than most decorations. Too nice of a buck to let rot and waste. Kids were excited and wanted to keep him too. Wife mentioned it to a co worker knowing he hunted somewhere around. It was almost just coming out of where his group hunts if we figured it out right. They were pretty bummed after one deer for their group last year but steady wolves.
Hung some cams, stands and ladders yesterday. And checked a couple cams. Does and fawns, and one bachelor group consisting of a small medium and large spike. Did have one nice buck come through twice in one spot so some potential for something nice too. Getting close to ready

Glad you were able to grab it turro. I've never seen a velvet euro... looking forward to seeing it.

I am going to try to slip over the line to NY today to check that cam bc bears have been all over my cam.. knocking it down, etc.
I leave tomorrow for Maine for a weeks beach vacation with the family, so I will hit it hard when I return.

They look pretty sweet and adds a unique look to regular. Seen a bunch of pics and couple at the taxidermists. He said the actual velvet will almost certainly be a waste since I wasn’t able to get it immediately. Figured pretty much if you personally hit it and to the freezer can be saved but this early before shedding still like live skin so tough to preserve. But said they do flocking or something like that for artificial and looks retry close and no worries of rot.
Good luck with the cams and have fun at the beach. Should be an awesome time. Been a long time since I’ve been to an ocean, looking forward to it again
