Because I couldn't help myself....that's why. I brought home a new female blue weimaraner puppy yesterday evening. Getting ready to register her this morning online.

A couple days ago my dad told me he'd like to see me get a new blue weim while he can see it. He knew I'd been putting off getting a new one partially because of everything going on with work and family health, etc... I still don't know how I'm going to manage caring for a new pup with everything going on but I guess I'll figure it out.

After a night and a morning with her, I'm glad it's gone the way it has. She's amazing. 12 weeks old and she's already retrieving and reliably so. My old weim was silver, dad wanted to see a blue one and I have to say she's just gorgeous. I don't know if I'll get back into bird hunting (probably) but I'm definitely going to try to train her to hunt sheds!

I went trap shooting last sunday with my son, it has been a long time since I shot my shotguns. I have not bird hunted since 2001 when my chocolate lab had to be put down.

The most fun in bird hunting for me is seeing bird dogs working.

Yeah I've been smiling a lot since yesterday, more than I have in a while. I have to think of a good name for her and figure out some kind of proper kennel for her. She's beginning to teeth so staying in the house unattended is not going to work and I can't leave her out in the heat at her age.

I'm afraid to ask where that name came from...
I'm tossing around Shelby, Shenandoah, Dakota, Shadow, Gracie (last dog's name was Sherri Grace), Artemis (goddess of wildlife, hunts) her sire and dam were named Ares and Athena...the theme is cool but I'm not a big fan of Artemis TBPH, lol.
