What do the team members do with their old bows when they get the newest ones when they come out. I think it would be cool to use a bow that put down a big buck on the show.

I try to find a person who wants to get into bowhunting or archery or someone who deserves an upgrade but cant swing it due to family or other obligations and donate the setup to them. My only rule is that they can not sell it but should pass it on if they no longer need or want it. Pay it forward kinda thing.

I usually pass mine down to friends or family members who need a new bow. Some people sell them to help pay for camera equipment and other stuff we need for the show. Most people don't realize we often spend more money on gear than we make from doing this, so a little extra cash here and there helps.

It's nice to see the team donating bows. I'll be looking at buying a new one soon (I hope). Mine was stolen about a month ago while my house is getting rebuilt after hurricane Harvey. We've been living in a travel trailer during repairs and I'm pretty sure one of the contractor workers took it. I dont have any proof so I'm having to chalk it up to a loss. Just have to see after repairs are done on what I'll be able to afford. I started this post thinking maybe a team member would be willing to make a deal.

I'm glad I ran across this thread, because I've always wondered this about the team's bows from the previous year. I could NEVER afford a Mathews - literally a pipe dream for me - so I'm gonna try to see if I can remember to throw my hat in the ring when some of you guys start to look at getting rid of this year's model. Never hurts to try and my mama taught me that a closed mouth don't get fed.

I can't speak for all of the guys, but one member in particular helped me out with an extremely generous piece of archery equipment. A real class act and all that he asked for was that I pass on the good deed. He definitely is a guy I would want representing my brand/web show!

It seems like all the dude's on the team are solid guys. I had a safety harness stolen and @copperhead hooked me up quickly with one (he even paid out of his pocket to ship it to me) so that I could continue to get in the woods this season. Awesome to see guys with some notoriety that still are very real, down to earth guys. BHOD for LIFE!!!!

When I got my new bow (15 years ago now) I was shooting in the yard and the UPS guy came to deliver a package. We got to talking and he said he wanted to learn to shoot. I gave him my old bow (Jennings). Good thing he was a lefty too:lol:

Copperhead sent me a dozen Easton Axis arrows a couple of years ago for free. I was asking questions about them in one of the forums and he offered to send me some he wasn't using. I offered to pay fair market price and he declined, told me it was my birthday present. I was looking to spend birthday money on new arrows at time. Not sure who Copperhead is in front of the camera, but he is a stand up guy in my opinion.

Nothing better than donating an old bow to a family member or friend. I just gave my old Hoyt (upgraded to a Mathews vertix last year) to a friend that wanted to get into BH. He is 41yo and had never been. He killed his first deer with it and is now hooked.

You may be able to get your homeowners insurance to cover this. Worth a try.

It would be covered, but subject to deductible. Most homes have a $1000 deductible.
